Womble named All-ACC academic in men’s golf

Wake Forest rising-junior Davis Womble has been named to the men's golf Academic All-ACC team for the second-straight season.
Womble played in 11 events this season and finished with a scoring average of 74.52. He six rounds at par or better and over two-thirds of his rounds counted towards the team score this season.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

HIGH POINT —  Five players on the High Point University baseball team were named to the 2014 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Baseball Team on Monday. Juniors Spencer Angelis and Conor Loure were named to the first team while junior John McGillicuddy and freshmen Cas Silber and Josh Greene were named to the second team.
"We are extremely proud that five of our players were recognized as some of the top players within the state," High Point head coach Craig Cozart said. "All five enjoyed outstanding seasons and helped us reach new heights this season. The recognition they have received is well deserved."

ARCHDALE — Three players tied for first at the Holly Ridge Ladies playday on Monday.
Diane Davidson, Kay Hendley and Sandy McCullough finished at 30 ½ as all the odd holes were counted with ½ handicap.
Mary Yancey, Beth Smith and Davidson all birdied hole No. 6 and Smith also birdied No. 7.
