Bishop, East Davidson post playoff wins

Samantha Walsh put together a hat trick to lead Bishop McGuinness to a 7-2 victory over host West Wilkes in the opening round of the NCHSAA 1A soccer playoffs Wednesday.

Katie Wright and Lauren Andrysick added two goals each for the Villains (12-4-2). Bishop keeper Kim Molen grabbed four saves

 

E. DAVIDSON 4, WIKES CENTRAL 1

THOMASVILLE – Taylor McPhatter scored all four goals for East Davidson in a 4-1 victory over visiting Wilkes Central in the opening round of the NCHSAA 2A soccer playoffs.

Maddie Hallman and Lori Morgan had two assists apiece for the Golden Eagles (11-7-1). Taylor Bell grabbed 10 saves in goal.

East travel to Cuthbertson for a second-round game on Saturday.

GLENN 9, NW GUILFORD 2

GREENSBORO — Glenn defeated Northwest Guilford 9-2 to win the Piedmont Triad Conference 4A Tournament Championship late Tuesday.

Glenn (14-8) got a homer and two RBIs from winning pitcher Karen Foley, while Breanna Murphy went 2 for 3 with a run and RMI, Baily Coble was 1 for 1  with a run and RBI and Samantha Stilling was 1 for 1 with a run and RBI.

Northwest fell to 15-6.
