Burris leads HPCC Men’s Club Championship
Brad Burris carries a three-stroke lead into today’s final round of the Men’s Club Championship at Willow Creek.
Burris stands at 72-76—148, followed by Scott Erickson (78-73) and Mike Bivins (74-77) at 151. Joe Lynch holds fourth at 79-73—152, with Kim Mansfield fifth at 75-78—153. Matt Weis rounds out championship flight at 78-77—155.
The event concludes today at Willow Creek.
EBERSOLE POSTS WHELEN TOUR WIN AT LANGLEY
HAMPTON, Va. — Kyle Ebersole came from behind to capture his first NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour win at Langley Speedway late Saturday night.
Ebersole of Hummelstown, Pa., took the lead late and then held off a hard charge from three-time tour champion George Brunnhoelzl III to win the Newport News Shipbuilding/Bayport Credit Union 150.
Tim Brown, John Smith and Danny Bohn rounded out the top five. Completing the top 10 were Patrick Emerling, Burt Myers, Jason Myers, Thomas Stinson and Gary Putnam.
BULLDOGS STUFF GRANITE BEARS
THOMASVILLE — Add another classic chapter to the Thomasville-Mount Airy rivalry.
Ike Marsh’s touchdown run with 5:47 left in the game propelled the Thomasville Bulldogs to a thrilling 14-7 victory over the Granite Bears Friday night at Cushwa Stadium.
“Every time we play Mount airy it’s a battle to the very end,” Thomasville assistant coach Dickie Cline said. “We’re happy to come away with the win.”
Marsh touched the ball 10 times on Thomasville’s game-winning drive, capping the march with a 1-yard plunge for the clinching score.
Thomasville (1-1) plays High Point Central at Simeon Stadium on Friday night.
