Wesleyan soccer tops NW Guilford, 2-1

SOCCER

WESLEYAN 2, NW GUILFORD 1
GREENSBORO – Timber Powell and Montana Heinbach scored goals as Wesleyan Christian Academy edged Northwest Guilford 2-1 in a showcase game at Bryan Park on Saturday.
Baylie Fuller dished an assist for the Trojans (10-2), who got six saves from goalkeeper Ashleigh Kelley.
Wesleyan plays at High Point Christian Academy on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL

GLENN 6, SOUTH STOKES 3
WELCOME – Winning pitcher Karen Foley went 3 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI as Glenn topped South Stokes 6-3 in the Jeff Pace ALS Benefit softball event hosted by North Davidson on Saturday.
Caitlin Parker finished 2 for 3  with two RBIs for the Bobcats (11-5), while Taylor Strassburg was 2 for 3 with a run.
South Stokes fell to 11-8.

BASEBALL

WESTCHESTER 13, CALDWELL ACADEMY 0 (4½ INNINGS)
HIGH POINT – Westchester Country Day School celebrated Senior Night in style on Friday night.
All four Wildcat seniors started and played well en route to a 13-0 TAC 2A win over Caldwell Academy.
Westchester (12-6, 8-0) clinched the league regular-season title.
Senior Donnie Sellers pitched three innings of three-hit, six strikeout ball for the win, Fellow senior Adam Kirkman worked the final two hitless frames, striking out five.
At the plate, WCDS senior Myles Sowell finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a stolen base, while senior Messiah Henderson went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI. Sellers was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI, while Kirkman was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

SOFTBALL

NW GUILFORD 4, GLENN 3 (8 INNINGS)
GREENSBORO – Northwest Guilford outlasted Glenn 4-3 in eight innings in Piedmont Triad 4A Conference action late Friday.
Hannah Fahnestock went 2 for 4 with two home runs, three runs and two RBIs for the Vikings (15-3, 8-0). Samantha Tingler finished 1 for 4 with a homer.
For the Bobcats (10-5, 6-2), Caitlin Parker went 1 for 2 with an RBI and run, while Ashley Hurd was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Northwest’s Gracen Staunton earned the pitching win. Karen Foley took the loss.
