Westchester’s Councill cards sizzling 30
AT OAK VALLEY
ADVANCE — Westchester Country Day School freshman Hardin Councill carded a blistering 6-under-par 30 in Thursday’s 145-207 win over Calvary Baptist at Oak Valley.
Councill missed a putt for a 29. Also for the Wildcats, Thomas Walsh shot 36, Jake Weiland recorded 39 and Tommy Frunzillo shot 40.
Westchester (8-0) competes in a TAC 2A match at Greensboro National on Monday at 4 p.m.
AT MEADLOWLANDS GOLF CLUB
WALLBURG — Southwest Guilford’s Drew Adams earned medalist honors at 1-over 37 as the Cowboys posted victory in a three-team match at Meadowlands Golf Club on Thursday.
Southwest carded 163 to edge West Davidson by one stroke and Ledford by five shots.
West’s Nathan Curry took second at 38.
Also for Southwest, Gray Mayberry shot 40, while Devin Lanier and Eric Webster recorded 43s.
Counting scores for Ledford were Anthony Bradley at 40, Parker Hughes at 41, Zach Gilliam at 43, Ryan McClellan at 44 and Brannon Shoaf at 44.
AT BLAIR PARK
HIGH POINT — Harrison Frye shot a 3-under 34 to help lead High Point Central to a 155-167 win Thursday against visiting East Davidson.
Justin Franklin and Brian Eskew also carded 39s while Lee Sanderlin had a 43 to lead the Bison, who improved to 18-0.
Zach Brown shot a 40 to lead the Golden Eagles, which Wes Cline had a 41 and Justin Wood and Scott Swaim each had a 43.
Central plays again Monday at Oak Hollow against T.W. Andrews.
HP CENTRAL 17, R.J. REYNOLDS 2 (3 INNINGS)
WINSTON-SALEM — Elana Smith homered and drove in two runs as High Point Central pounded R.J. Reynolds 17-2 in three innings on Thursday.
Crista Bova tossed all three innings and also doubled and knocked in three runs for the Bison (3-3). Kelly Stewart doubled and drove in two runs, while Abby Duffy, Taylor Thornton, Heather Rothrock and McKenna Reece had one RBI apiece for Central, which plays host to Parkland today at 6 p.m.
TRINITY 12, RAGSDALE 2 (5 INNINGS)
JAMESTOWN — Noelle Butler had three hits at the plate and picked up the win on the mound as Trinity beat host Ragsdale 12-2 in five innings on Thursday.
Butler pitched all five innings, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out nine, and also went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Johna Mizzi also went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (5-3), who scored five in the first and four in the fourth.
Trinity plays again Tuesday at Randleman.
SOUTHERN GUILFORD 13, EASTERN GUILFORD 3 (5 INNINGS)
GIBSONVILLE — Taylor Creed and Mohogany Headen homered as Southern Guilford downed Eastern Guilford 13-3 in five innings on Thursday night.
Robin Stoner got the win with five strikeouts in a three-hitter and also finished 2 for 4 with a double. Creed went 4 for 4, while Hannah Moser was 2 for 3 and Torie Weems was 2 for 4 with a double for the Storm (1-3), which plays at Ledford tonight at 7.
RANDLEMAN 12, SOUTHERN GUILFORD 2
RANDLEMAN — Randleman posted a 12-2 win over Southern Guilford late Wednesday.
Hailey Chandler and Hannah Moser each went 1 for 1 for the Storm.
CALVARY BAPTIST 2, WESTCHESTER 0
WINSTON-SALEM — Calvary Baptist topped Westchester Country Day School 2-0 on Thursday.
Maddie Dyson made 17 saves in goal for the Wildcats (0-3), who play at Asheville Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m.
E. FORSYTH 2, RAGSDALE 1
KERNERSVILLE — Montana Flemming scored the lone goal for Ragsdale in a 2-1 loss at East Forsyth on Thursday.
Nicki Baggett had the assist, while Keller Dixon made six saves in goal for the Tigers.
WESTCHESTER 6, CALVARY BAPTIST 3
CLEMMONS — Westchester Country Day School netted a 6-3 win over Calvary Baptist Day School at Tanglewood Park on Thursday.
The Wildcats got singles wins from Adam Chinnasami, Hunter Heinbach, Baxter Bruggeworth and Max Johns. In doubles, WCDS’ Heinbach-Bruggeworth and Chinnasami-Johns prevailed.
The Wildcats travel to Burlington Christian Academy on Tuesday.
HP CENTRAL 9, T.W. ANDREWS
HIGH POINT — High Point Central defeated crosstown rival T.W. Andrews 9-0 on Thursday.
Alex Hill, Robert Tutton, Bobby Little, Mack Earnhardt, Trey Sedberry and Alex Zito won in singles for the Bison (7-1). R. Tutton-Zito, Barcy Godwin-Little and Sedberry-Rene’ Soto prevailed in doubles for Central, which plays at Southwest Guilford on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
EAST DAVIDSON 3, TRINITY 1
THOMASVILLE — Avery Bowles slugged a two-run homer in the fifth inning and Braxton Shetley finished 2 for 3 with an RBI as East Davidson topped Trinity 3-1 on Thursday night.
Tyler Rhodes pitched four innings of three-hit ball for the Golden Eagles (6-1) before Cory Waldroup (2-0) tossed one and two-thirds innings of solid relief for the win. Nick Williams gained a one and one-third inning save.
Troy Whittington went 2 for 3 for Trinity (1-4). Matt McQuaigue (0-1) took the loss.
East plays host to Wheatmore today at 4:30 p.m.
HP CHRISTIAN 11, CANNON 1 (6 INNINGS)
HIGH POINT — High Point Christian scored five runs in the sixth inning to break open a fairly close game and beat host Cannon 11-1 in six innings Thursday.
Boston New went 2 for 5 with three runs to lead the Cougars (4-2), while Jarred Bergsma went 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Levi Gesell went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI double.
Kennedy Hardy (1-0) picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run while striking out three in three innings.

NW GUILFORD 9, HP CENTRAL 2
GREENSBORO — Northwest Guilford stopped High Point Central 9-2 in PTC 4A action on Thursday night.
Will Johnson went 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Bison (3-2, 1-1), while Hansen Butler was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Zach McLean was 2 for 4 for Central, which plays host to Parkland today at 6 p.m.
BISHOP 14, GOSPEL LIGHT 13
KERNERSVILLE — Bishop McGuinness rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun Gospel Light 14-13 on Thursday night.
Matt Neidert’s two-run single with no outs in the seventh to complete the comeback for the Villains (4-4). Nick Castellano went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs for Bishop, while Neidert was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Austin Temple was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Bishop plays host to North Stokes today at 4 p.m.
RAGSDALE 4, GRIMSLEY 3
JAMESTOWN — Ragsdale rallied from a 3-0 deficit to edge Grimsley 4-3 on Thursday night.
Nick Corey (1-0) got the win with one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief. Avery Hodged picked up the save. Colin Lipke was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Tigers (4-3), while Matt Gorkey was 1 for 1 with a double and RBI. Grimsley fell to 2-4.
SW GUILFORD BOYS 8, BISHOP 5
HIGH POINT — Justin Warnock scored four goals, while Cody Ceresi added three as Southwest Guilford’s boys topped Bishop McGuinness 8-5 on Thursday night.
Evan Thomas had one goal for the Cowboys, who got two assists from Josh Brown and one each from Justin Sampson and Travis O’Connor. Ethan Ramsey made four saves in goal for Southwest.
For Bishop, Cameron Bradford, Max Leftwich, Tom Valle, Rhys Murdock and Sean Hammacher scored one goal apiece. Murdock, Leftwich and Valle tallied one assist each. Riley Furr made four saves in goal for Bishop.
