Ledford’s Adams shares MPC football coaching honor
Ledford’s Chris Adams was a co-choice for football coach of the year in the Mid-PIedmont 3A Conference with North Forsyth’s Pete Gilchrist while Austin Stilley of the Panthers was co-choice for defensive player of the year with Jabriel Jackson of the Vikings and Reggie Gallaspy of Southern Guilford was offensive player of the year as the league recently named its fall sports awards winners.
Also making the all-conference team on offense from Ledford were Josh Fox, Dalton Harris, Dillon Leach and Van McCasland on offense; and Dre Dow and Garrett Hooker on defense. Choices from Southern in addition to Gallaspy were Ahmad Diallo on offense, and Corey Pegram, Brady Stover, Jamal Williams and Bryshaun Wragg on defense.
Oscar Rojo of North was kicker of year while Brandon Capuano of Central Davidson was specialist of the year.
Conference champion Ledford swept the women’s tennis awards as Taylor Freeman was picked as player of the year and Randy Grimes was named coach of the year.
Erin Crotts, Sarah Richardson, Emma Caroline Russell and Elizabeth Stroup of the Panthers joined Freeman on the all-conference team.
John Blake of Ledford was picked as men’s soccer coach of the year. Among the all-conference selections were Johannan Dixon, Tyler Dodson, Kevin Mogollon, Alex Molina and Ed Wright of Ledford; and Tim Cedell and Oscar Jasso of Southern.
Charlie Killebrew of Central Davidson was soccer offensive player of the year while Patrick Hazelman of Western Guilford was defensive player of the year.
Alyssa Doby and Tori Farlow of Ledford; and Hailey Chandler and Taylor Creed of the Storm were among all-conference picks in volleyball. Melissa McMath of Central Davidson was player of the year with Julie Langdon of Asheboro picked as coach of the year.
John Phillips of Asheboro was picked as women’s cross country coach of the year with Ali Bowen chosen as runner of the year. Emily Boger, Tally Gross and Savannah Hedgecock of Ledford were among the all-conference selections.
Derek Chavis of Central Davidson is men’s cross country runner of year with Carl Wagstaff of the Spartans chosen as coach of the year. Cam Fichthorn, Thomas James, Luke Penry and Robert Scott of Ledford were among those on the all-conference team.
