Shelton’s team wins in HPSGA play

 The team of Wilson Shelton, Bob Arnold, Gordon Thacker and Steve Holt prevailed in the High Point Seniors Golf Association weekly tournament on Wednesday at Old Homeplace.
Under a format that counted a team’s two best balls on each hole, they finished at 15-under-par, one shot ahead of Bob Weant, Don Byrd, Duffy Diffenbacker and A.H Putnam.
Thacker eagled No. 18 while Jim Myers eagled No. 2.

HOLE-IN-ONE
HIGH POINT — Zach Harris made second hole-in-one within the past two months at High Point Country Club’s Willow Creek course on Wednesday.
Harris hit a 5-iron from 210 yards on No. 11. Witnesses were Zac Truesdale and Peter ?Coture.

DASH FALL TO SALEM
WINSTON-SALEM — For the second consecutive game, the Winston-Salem Dash were handed a lopsided loss, falling 12-3 to the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark.


WALSH TIES FOR 30TH AT WESTERN JUNIOR
INDIANAPOLIS — Westchester Country Day School star Thomas Walsh finished tied for 30th in the prestigious Western Junior at Meridian Hills Country Club June 17-21.
Walsh carded rounds of 72, 72, 73 and 71 for a 4-over 288 in the prestigious event. Collin Morikawa of La Canada Flintridge, Calif. won at 13-under 271 after rounds of 69, 67, 68 and 67.
