The High Point University women’s golf team is in third place after the first round of the Big South Conference Championship at The Patriot at Grand Harbor in Ninety-Six, S.C.. Junior Grier Bennett led the Panthers with a even-par 72 and it tied for fifth after 18 holes.

“Campbell played an amazing round,” said HPU head coach Vici Pate Flesher. “We can only control what we do and I am happy with a 310. Grier hit the ball well and had a solid day. Nothing we did was spectacular but it was good enough to keep us in the top three. If we clean up some of the little things tomorrow we will have a great round.”
High Point sits in third place behind Campbell (278) and Coastal Carolina (297). As a team the Panthers carded a 301. Campbell’s Louise Latorre is the leader after day one with a 68.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The High Point University women’s lacrosse team scored 12 goals in the opening half to cruise to an 18-7 win over Winthrop on Sunday afternoon.

“I was very pleased with how we started the game,” said HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell. “I thought the girls came out with focus and intensity, which I think led to the early lead. We were more aggresive on defense today and did a good job of causing turnovers. Mackenzie Carroll did a great job once again leading our offense andJasmine Jordan is starting to show what she is capable of for our team and is doing a great job all over the field.”
