High Five unchanged
A quiet week produced little noise with this week’s High Point Enterprise High Five prep football poll.
Only one ranked team from last week saw action on Friday night, leaving the rankings unchanged.
T.W. Andrews maintained its grip atop the survey, garnering all three first-place votes for 15 points. The Red Raiders (4-1) open PAC-6 2A play at Providence Grove on Friday night.
High Point Central earned all three second-place votes for 12 points, The Bison (4-2) welcome Piedmont Triad 4A Conference rival East Forsyth to Simeon Stadium on Friday night.
Ledford held third place in the ratings with nine points — one fewer than last week. The Panthers lost 32-28 at Central Davidson on Friday to slip to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Mid-Piedmont 3A play. Ledford entertains Asheboro on Friday night.
East Davidson (5-1) kept fourth place with seven points. The Golden Eagles start Central Carolina 2A competition at Salisbury on Friday night.
Ledford’s 13-10 win over East earlier this season helped the Panthers stay ahead of the Golden Eagles in the balloting.
Bishop McGuinness (4-2) rounded out the High Five with three points. The Villains travel to Mount Airy for their Northwest 1A/2A Conference opener on Friday night.
In other games involving area schools on Friday night, it’s Southwest Guilford at Glenn; High Point Christian Academy at Westminster Catawba; Eastern Randolph at Trinity; Wheatmore at Randleman; Northwest Guilford at Ragsdale; Central Davidson at Southern Guilford; and West Davidson at Thomasville.
