Ragsdale sweeps Grimsley

BASKETBALL

RAGSDALE, GRIMSLEY
GREENSBORO – Mikayla Pettyjohn scored 13 points and Stellepha McManus added nine as Ragsdale’s girls topped Grimsley 40-31 on Wednesday night.
The Tiger girls improved to 1-2.
James Stepp poured in 19 points as Ragsdale’s boys eased past Grimsley for a 63-42 win.
Joseph Bryant added 13 points for the Tigers (1-1), while P.J. Parker tallied 10. Ragsdale raced to a 10-0 lead and never looked back.
The Whirlies fell to 1-1.
Ragsdale plays host to Page for a varsity doubleheader on Friday.

GRIMSLEY, HP CENTRAL
HIGH POINT – Grimsley edged High Point Central 60-59 in boys action that ended late Tuesday.
Juwan Foggie led the Bison with 19 points, while Jamal Thompson added 14 and Germaine Pratt had 10. The game was played at Southwest Guilford as work continues on the Bison’s home gym.

ANDREWS-CENTRAL SET FOR FRIDAY AT THE MILLIS CENTER
HIGH POINT – The T.W. Andrews-HP Central varsity basketball games on Friday will be played at High Point University. All tickets will be pre-sold for $5. There will be no tickets sold at the gate. Parking at Vert Stadium needs to be filled up first. College Village will be used only as an overflow parking area. Game time is 6 for the girls and 7:30 for the boys. Tickets can only be purchased at each school’s Main Office. The sale runs daily at each school and ends on Friday at 2 p.m.

WRESTLING

TRINITY GOES 2-0 IN TRI-MATCH
TRINITY – Trinity posted a pair of wins in a tri-match late Wednesday, defeating Page 39-36 and topping Eastern Randolph 54-28.
Seven Bulldogs went 2-0 – Austin Minch at 113, Tyler Myers at 126, Robert Reid at 132, Alex Guevara at 145, James Bryan at 152, Chaas Delgado at heavyweight and Michael Lee at 195/220.

EAST DAVIDSON 45, LEDFORD 30
WALLBURG – East Davidson defeated Ledford 45-30 late Wednesday night.
Winning for East were: Danyl Wurdemann at 106, Chris Coble at 113, Bryce Bolen at 182, and Logan Ware at 195 by forfeit; Guiliano Postek at 120, Bryce Barnard at 160, and Chase Robison at 170 by pin; and Tyler Rhodes at 145 by decision. East is now 1-1 and will wrestle Saturday at Ledford Duals.
Winning for Ledford were Connor Sherrili at 125, Austin DeBerry at 138, Ben Rickard at 120, and Guadalupe Cervantes at 285 by pin; Chase Lewis at 132 and Drew Chappell at 152 by decision.
In the junior varsity match, Chas Gurganious, Patrick Hemric, Tony Wimbley, Matt Fanary, and AJ Palmer won for East.

WESLEYAN POSTS TWO WINS
HIGH POINT – Wesleyan Christian Academy secured two wins late Wednesday.
The Trojans beat Providence Day School 42-36 and topped Charlotte Christian School 50-24.
WCA’s Wes Sutton picked up a tech-fall win against the State runnerup from Charlotte Christian and won a tight match against a tough PDS 138 pounder. WCA’s Ryan Petty and Bradley Davis were both underdogs in their matches and both went on to defeat their opponents.
