Ledford's girls, Trinity's boys net wins

BASKETBALL

LEDFORD, TRINITY
TRINITY — Courtney Callicutt scored 14 points, dished three assists and made three steals to spark Ledford’s girls to a 53-41 win over Trinity on Monday.
In the boys game, Jarrod Rogers tallied 18 points to power undefeated Trinity to a 65-46 win.
Leigh Midkiff added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals for the Panther girls. Brie Grier finished with nine points and five boards for Ledford, which led 37-21 after three quarters.
Jordan Parker topped the Bulldog girls with 14 points, including four 3-pointers and four steals. Angelica Conroy added eight points and six rebounds for Trinity (5-3), while Noelle Butler had seven points and four assists and Casey Davis notched seven points and three rebounds.
Brandon Earnhardt added 17 points for the Bulldog boys (8-0), who led 38-18 at halftime. David Newcomer finished with 15 points for Trinity.
Eric McSwain paced Ledford with 11 points.
Trinity’s girls play SW Randolph in the Asheboro Courier-Tribune tournament on Thursday at Asheboro.

S. GUILFORD, HP CENTRAL
HIGH POINT – Southern Guilford’s boys turned back High Point Central 54-45 in a game played at Southwest Guilford on Monday night.
Juwan Foggie led the Bison (5-4) with 15 points. Germaine Pratt added 10 points and Ahman Langham had nine for Central, which returns to action on Dec. 27 in the Sheetz Holiday Classic.

NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN/THOMASVILLE PREP HOST TOURNEY
THOMASVILLE — The USSSA Holiday Invitational is set for Friday-Sunday at Thomasville Prep.
Friday’s schedule features the Wakefield-Miller School girls at 4 p.m.; the Wakefield-Lexington boys at 5:30; the New Hope Christian Academy-Harding girls at 7; and the New Hope Christian Academy-Crossroads Charter boys at 8:30.
On Saturday, the schecule is as follows:
10 a.m. – Loser 5:30 p.m. vs. Loser 8:30 p.m. Boys
11:30 a.m. - Loser 4 p.m. vs. Loser 7 p.m. Girls
1 p.m. - Winner 4 p.m. vs. Winner 7 p.m. Girls
2:30 p.m. – Winner 8:30 p.m. vs. Winner 5:30 p.m. Boys

WRESTLING

WHEATMORE 40, EAST DAVIDSON 39
THOMASVILLE – Wheatmore nipped East Davidson 40-39 in nonconference action on Monday night.
Winning for East were Chris Coble (113) and Logan Ware (195) by forfeit; Tyler Rhodes by decision; and Bryce Barnard (152), Brad Hutchins (160), Devan Hadsock (220) and David Causey (285) by pin.
The Golden Eagles fell to 4-6 and wrestle at the West Davidson Duals on Saturday.

SWIMMING

AT ASHEBORO YMCA
ASHEBORO — Trinity, Wheatmore and T.W. Andrews competed in the RCICS meet at the Asheboro YMCA.
Trinity’s girls 200 medley relay of Jessica Draughn, Polly Van Ausdall, Elizabeth Adkins and Morgan Davis won in 2:43.10. The same foursome captured the 200 free relay in 2:16.90 and the 400 free relay in 5:26.29. Davis took the girls 50 free in 29.71, the 100 breast in 1:30.17 and the 100 free in 1:05.51.
Olivia Mathai of the Andrews girls won the 100 fly in 1:42.99.
For the Wheatmore boys, Andrew Walters captured the 100 fly in 1:18.57 and Austin Barnes won the 100 back in 1:26.45.
