Trinity shuts out Southern

Hunter Dean scored a goal and dished an assist to help lead Trinity past visiting Southern Guilford 4-0 on Wednesday evening.

Daniel Newcomer, Ross Bundy and Alexi Merida also scored for the Bulldogs, while Mark Grant made 12 saves in goal. Jonathan Adkins and Chase Faircloth also played well defensively.

Trinity plays again Thursday at home against Thomasville.




THOMASVILLE — Dudley swept host Thomasville 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 on Wednesday.

Shakemia Matthews provided 15 service points and strong back row play for the Bulldogs, while Sarah Merchant had 10 service points and also played well on the back row.

Alexus Nelson added 11 service points and set well; Jashana Thomas had three hits, playing well at the net, and six service points; and team captain Christina Coleman added five hits, two blocks and seven service points. 

Thomasville plays again Saturday in the Davidson County volleyball tournament at West Davidson.



HIGH POINT — Southwest Guilford rolled past visiting Northeast Guilford 25-15, 25-14, 25-12 on Wednesday.

Bri Burgins had 12 kills and two blocks while Lizzie Blair had 17 assists to lead the Cowgirls (1-1).

Southwest plays again Thursday at home against Wesleyan Christian.



TRINITY — Wheatmore won in three straight, 25-10, 25-17, 25-12, against visiting West Davidson on Wednesday.

Georgia Garrison had 12 kills for the Warriors (2-0), while Kathryn Johnson had 11 kills, nine digs and seven aces. Kelly Davis also had 31 assists and four aces while Davey Albertson had four kills and six blocks.

Casey Hawkins added seven digs, while Emily Brown and Allie Grubb each had four kills.
