Cecil’s three homers spark Trojans in opener
WESLEYAN 13, NORTH RALEIGH CHRISTIAN 2 (5 INNINGS)
HIGH POINT — Cayla Cecil finished 4-for-4 with three home runs as Wesleyan Christian Academy defeated North Raleigh Christian 13-2 in the Trojans’ season opener on Thursday.
Cecil also tossed a complete-game, striking out seven in five innings. Ashton Prillaman went 2-for-2 with a homer for WCA, while Sydney Parker was 2-for-2 and Michaela Hicks was 2-for-3.
WCA plays host to Cannon on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
TRINITY 8, BISHOP 0
TRINITY — Noelle Butler allowed just hit and struck out 12 as Trinity broke the game open with a four-run fifth en route to an 8-0 win Thursday against visiting Bishop McGuinness.
Bailey Andrews went 2 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs and, with the Bulldogs leading 2-0, keyed the fifth inning with a bases-loaded double. Hannah Rich then followed with a double to score Andrews.
Butler, who allowed just three walks in the circle in the complete-game win, also went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs while Johna Mizzi went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Trinity (3-1), which plays again today at home against East Davidson at 4:30 p.m.
EAST DAVIDSON 2, SOUTHERN GUILFORD 1
THOMASVILLE — East Davidson edged Southern Guilford 2-1 on Thursday.
Haley Ray got the win for the Golden Eagles. East’s Andrea Grant went 3 for 4 with a double and run, while Morgan Gallimore was 2 for 2 with a run, Bailey Jones was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Morgan Key added an RBI.
East visits Trinity today at 4:30.
The Storm moved to 0-1 and plays at Central Davidson today at 6:30 p.m.
ALEXANDER CENTRAL 11, LEDFORD 0 (6 INNINGS)
WALLBURG — State powerhouse Alexander Central stopped Ledford 11-0 in six innings on Thursday.
Meg Everhart took the loss for the Panthers (1-1), striking out three and allowing two runs in three innings.
Destiny DeBerry went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases for the Panthers, while Bayleigh Griffith was 1-for-1 with a double.
Ledford plays host to North Davidson today at 6:30 p.m.
EAST FORSYTH 13, HP CENTRAL 2
HIGH POINT — East Forsyth downed High Point Central 13-2 on Thursday night.
Kelly Stewart, Elana Smith, Crista Bova and Taylor Thorton led the Bison (1-2) offense. Central plays T.W. Andrews today at 5 p.m. at Montlieu Field.
SW GUILFORD 9, WEST FORSYTH 7
HIGH POINT — Erin Thompson’s three-run homer helped ignite Southwest Guilford’s rally from a 7-0 deficit to defeat West Forsyth 9-7 on Thursday night.
Morgan Shiflett tossed a complete game for the win for the Cowgirls (1-0). She also went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Casey Millen was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run for SWG, while Julia Goodwin went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Charity Douglas was 1-for-3 with 3 runs, a steal, a double and an RBI.
Southwest visits NW Guilford today at 7 p.m.
WHEATMORE 7, PROVIDENCE GROVE 3
TRINITY — Morgan Halo tossed a complete game for the win and Sydney Peel finished 2-for-4 with a double and RBI as Wheatmore downed Providence Grove 7-3 on Thursday night.
Stephanie Fortner was 2-for 4 for the Warriors (4-0). Freshman Nicole Hunter had her first career RBI for Wheatmore, which visits Eastern Randolph today at 6 p.m.
AT OAK HOLLOW
HIGH POINT — High Point Central’s Harrison Frye carded a sizzling two-under 34 to win medalist honors on a chilly, windy day at Oak Hollow on Thursday.
The Bison prevailed at 147, followed by Grace Academy from Charlotte at 154 and Wesleyan Christian Academy at 172.
Central’s other counting scores came from Casey Nichols at 36, Justin Franklin at 37 and Matthew Krawczyk at 40.
For Wesleyan, Jordan Smith carded 40, Blake Davis and Nick Cebollero shot 43 and Chase Crawford recorded 46.
Central (6-0) plays Wesleyan on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Blair Park.
WESLEYAN 12, CALVARY BAPTIST 1 (5 INNINGS)
WINSTON-SALEM — Zach Michalski went 1-for-2 with a long three-run homer as Wesleyan Christian Academy defeated Calvary Baptist 12-1 in five innings on Thursday.
Hayden Manuel finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Trojans (4-1), while Greg White went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Lane Kowlaski (2-0) went three innings to get the win, while Hunter White tossed the final two innings.
Wesleyan visits Mount Tabor today at 6 p.m.
WESTCHESTER 16, SALEM BAPTIST 4 (5 INNINGS)
HIGH POINT — Markel Johnson went 2-for-3 with a leadoff homer and three RBIs and W.J. Jessup finished 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs as Westchester Country Day School walloped Salem Baptist 16-4 in five innings on Thursday.
Adam Kirkman pitched three innings with seven strikeouts and one unearned run to get the win for the Wildcats (2-0). Myles Sowell worked the final two innings. Donnie Sellers was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for WCDS, which plays host to O’Neal today at 4 p.m.
WEST STOKES 13, BISHOP 0 (5 INNINGS)
KING — West Stokes defeated Bishop McGuinness 13-0 in five innings on Thursday.
Thane Jacobsen and Matt Neidert each went 1-for-2 for the Villains (3-1, 0-1 NWC 1A/2A).

HP CENTRAL 5, EAST FORSYTH 2
HIGH POINT — Trevor Gay got the win in relief and starting pitcher Hansen Butler went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs as High Point Central beat East Forsyth 5-2 on Thursday.
Gay (2-0) worked three innings after Butler tossed four solid frames for the Bison (3-0). Tyler Fowler was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run for HPC, while Zach McLean was 1-for-3 with a double.
Central plays host to Reagan today at 5:30 p.m.

WINSTON-SALEM — Ragsdale slugged 19 hits, including two homers, en route to a 30-2 win at Parkland on Thursday night.
Niko Orfanedes went 4 for 5 with a double and 5 RBIs, while Will Redding was 2 for 3 with a homer and 5 RBI’s and Nick Corey was 1 for 1 with a homer, sac fly and 4 RBIs.
Tim Ambrose got the start for Ragsdale and went two innings as the Tigers utilized four pitchers in the game.

SALISBURY — Yulisa Sandoval and Hannah Perryman scored goals as Ledford’s girls opened the season with a 2-0 win at Salisbury.
Crystal Llodrat and Jordan Sapier dished assists for the Panthers, who got six saves from goalkeeper Sarah Baker.

HIGH POINT — American Hebrew Academy topped Westchester Country Day School 2-0 in girls action on Thursday.

Thomas Freeman, Landon McGinn and Andy Buchanan won in singles for the Panthers (3-1). Rick Ydrovo-Freeman and Jackson Somers-McGinn prevailed in doubles.
Ledford opens MPC 3A play on Monday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting Southern Guilford.

TRINITY — David Ryu led a string of singles winners as Trinity topped Southwestern Randolph 9-0 on Thursday.
Chase Pruitt, Hunter Dean, Josh Flenniken, Reid Butler and David Gonzales also won in singles for the Bulldogs. Pruitt-Dean, Ryu-Butler and Gonzales-Flenniken prevailed in doubles.

HIGH POINT — High Point Christian Academy downed Caldwell Academy 6-3 on Thursday.
David Leonard, Corbin Carroll, Zach Hamilton and Zach Davis won in singles for the Cougars. Leonard-Carroll and Chandler Starr-Austin Cobb prevailed in doubles.
RAGSDALE BOYS 12, WESLEYAN 0
HIGH POINT — Jack MacDonald scored four goals and dished an assist as Ragsdale’s boys topped Wesleyan 12-0 on Thursday night.
Justin Praire added three goals and an assist for the Tigers (2-0), while Alec Joyce netted 2 goals and 2 assists. Ben Bingham, Preston Butler and Sam McClam had one goal apiece. Nick Fucini dished an assist and Josh Wonders served in goal.
