Thomas, Callicutt spark Ledford girls

The Ledford girls, led by Emmalee Thomas and Courtney Callicutt offensively, pounded visiting Northeast Guilford 68-35 in Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference play Monday.

Thomas scored 20 points while Callicutt scored 17 to lead the Panthers (11-3, 1-0 MPC), who led 26-7 after one quarter and 36-16 at halftime. Callicutt and Brie Grier each had six steals as Ledford forced 28 turnovers.

The Panthers play again Friday at Southern Guilford.

 

E. DAVIDSON, SW RANDOLPH 

FARMER — The East Davidson girls topped host Southwestern Randolph 67-46 in a nonconference matchup Monday.

Jennifer Welborn scored 27 points to lead the Golden Eagles, who outscored Southwestern Randolph 22-3 to lead 40-20 at halftime. Bayley Plummer had her fourth triple-double of the season with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots.

East plays again Friday night at Thomasville.

MOUNT AIRY — The Bishop McGuinness boys and girls swept Mount Airy on Monday. The boys won 118-49 while the girls won 93-75.

Winning for the boys were Bryan Soltis (200 free, 1:56.27; 500 free, 5:30.51), Grant Davidson (200 IM, 2:24.82; 100 back, 1:00.97), Daniel Gomez-Perry (50 free, 25.20), Ben Coon (100 fly, 59.66), Jeffrey Davidson (100 free, 58.74) and Sean Gorham (100 breast, 1:11.77), as well as the 200 medley (Grant Davidson, Gorham, Alex Strasser, Gomez-Perry, 1:53.26), 200 free (Jeffrey Davidson, Gorham, Gomez-Perry, Coon, 1:44.05) and 400 free (Soltis, Gomez-Perry, Grant Davidson, Coon, 3:47.69) relays.

Winning for the girls were Emily Fiore (200 IM, 2:35.66; 500 free, 6:03.59), Bri Eichhorn (50 free, 28.13; 100 free, 1:02.28) and Colleen Gillooley (100 fly, 1:10.61) as well as the 200 medley (Gillooley, Maria Kammire, Fiore, Eichhorn. 2:10.25), 400 free (Fiore, Gillooley, Erica Justice, Eichhorn, 4:15.92) and 200 free (Justice, Carolyn O’Halloran, Maia Cancro, Kammire, 1:56.6)
