Red Raiders sting Scorpions, 39-0
T.W. Andrews is back in the NCHSAA 2AA quarterfinals for the second consecutive season, rolling over North Brunswick High School 39-0 on Friday night at Simeon Stadium.
Marquell Cartwright carried the ball 14 times for 214 yards and one touchdown to lead the Red Raiders (11-1). Senior quarterback Lamar Raynard threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns, picking apart the Scorpion defense. Raynard hit his favorite receiver Justin Lea for all three of his touchdowns, totaling 154 yards.
Defensively, Andrews pitched its second shutout of the season, holding North Brunswick (9-4) out of the red zone for all but one occurrence. Carlos Manning picked off Scorpion quarterback Randy Clark twice, and the defense recorded four sacks.
Andrews’ hot streak continued — it has not lost since August 23, a 12-game winning streak. The Red Raiders power offense has been a key factor but defensively they have not given up more than two touchdowns since week one.
Andrews plays host to Jacksonville Northside in the quarterfinals on Friday night at Simeon Stadium. Northside was a 19-7 winner over Hertford County in round two.
Last year, Andrews lost in the quarterfinals to Salisbury after leading most of the game.
