Lexington’s boys turn back Andrews

HIGH POINT — Lexington’s boys edged T.W. Andrews 72-59 in varsity action late Thursday.
Xavier Davis led the Red Raiders with 24 points, while Chris Eatmon tallied 15, Marquez Welch eight and DeKwon Miller seven.

BISHOP 79, RIVER MILL 46
KERNERSVILLE — Four players finished with double-figure scoring in a solid all-around performance for Bishop McGuinness in a 79-46 win Wednesday against visiting River Mill.
Spencer Wilson had 19 points to lead the Villains (1-0), who led 44-20 at halftime, while Carlos Simmons had 17, and Logan Weathers and Nick Efird each had 12.
Wilson also had seven assists while Efird had five for Bishop, which totaled 24 as a team.
The Villains play again Monday at home against Union Grove.

WHEATMORE 70, LEDFORD 54
TRINITY — Marshall Lange scored 23 point to help lead Wheatmore to a 70-54 victory over Ledford in nonconference action Wednesday.
Madison Fountain had 13 for Warriors. Ryan Grant added 15, Brayton Hardin 10 and Wyatt Rains seven.
Hunter Jones led Ledford with 15 and Skyler McGee had 14.

GIRLS

LEDFORD 54, WHEATMORE 37
TRINITY — Courtney Calicutt scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Ledford topped Wheatmore 54-37 on Wednesday.
Mackenzie Cranford and Tally Gross added eight points each for the Panthers (2-0).
Kylie Welborn paced Wheatmore with 18 points and Davey Albertson had nine.

AT EAST MONTGOMERY
BISCOE — Thomasville opened the season with two impressing wins Wednesday night, slamming Greensboro Smith 69-12 and pinning host East Montgomery 59-11.
Winner against Smith were Ray-Shum Moore (106), Hygee Martin (113), Jason Boutsady (120), Ashan Butt (126), Corbin Wilson (132), Khree Colson (138), Trevor Billie (145), Brett Hokenson (152), Evan Makupson (160), Felix Fernandez (170), Anthony Bersano (195) and Tyberous Ivory (heavyweight).
Winner against East Montgomery included Trey-von Moore (106), Martin (113), Boutsady (120), Butt (126), Wilson (132), Colson (145), Hokenson (152), Makupson (160), Fernandez (170), Nico Weeman (182), Bersano (220) and Ivory (hevyweight).
The Bulldogs return to action in the Wheatmore Duals on Saturday at Wheatmore.
