Elkin ends Bishop’s stellar tennis season, 5-3
NCHSAA 1A WEST REGIONAL FINAL
WINSTON-SALEM — Bishop McGuinness fell 5-3 to Elkin in the NCHSAA 1A dual-team Western Regional final late Wednesday at Wake Forest.
John Abram and Zack Jones won in singles for the Villains (15-2). Ben Jandzinski-Jonathan Ingram prevailed in doubles for Bishop.
NCISAA 3A DOUBLE-ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT
GASTONIA — Top-seeded High Point Christian Academy and third-seeded Wesleyan Christian Academy begin play in the NCISAA 3A double-elimination softball tournament today at Gaston Country Day School.
The Cougars (16-2) play fifth-seeded Metrolina Christian (14-6) at noon. The third-seeded Trojans (15-1) take on second-seeded Hickory Grove (17-3) at 2 p.m.
Other games today are set for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Those matchups will be determined by today’s first two games.
Saturday’s games are slated for 10 a.m., noon and, if needed, 2 p.m.
NCISAA 2A CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Top-seeded Westchester Country Day School plays host to second-seeded Rocky Mount Academy for the best of three NCISAA 2A baseball championship series.
Game 1 is today at 7 p.m. Game 2 will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with Game 3, if needed, set for Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Wildcats sport a 21-6 record. Rocky Mount stands 20-2.
NCISAA 3A SEMIFINALS
Second-seeded High Point Christian Academy and fourth-seeded Wesleyan Christian Academy play in the NCISAA 3A semifinals today at Finch Field in Thomasville.
The No. 4 seeded Trojans (18-6) face top-seeded Charlotte Christian (27-4) at noon. The Cougars (24-4) play third-seeded Providence Day (18-10) at 3 p.m.
Today’s semifinal winners clash in Game 1 of the best of 3 state championship series at 7 p.m. on Friday at Finch Field. Game 2 is set for noon at Finch Field, with Game 3, if needed, slated for 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2.
NCHSAA THIRD-ROUND PAIRINGS
In 2A, Trinity, the No. 2 seed from the PAC-6, will travel to Rocky River No. 1 seed Piedmont while Randleman, the No. 1 seed out of the PAC-6, plays host to Cuthbertson, the No. 2 out of the Rocky River.
