Ledford edges Southern in soccer, 1-0

Crystal Llodrat scored the lone goal of the game in the second half for Ledford in a 1-0 win Monday against visiting Southern Guilford in Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference action.

Brenda Luna had the assist while Sarah Baker made six saves in goal for the Panthers (4-4, 1-0 MPC).

Ledford plays again Wednesday at Northeast Guilford.

S. GUILFORD 5, NE GUILFORD 0

SUMNER — Southern Guilford swept past visiting Northeast Guilford 5-0 in a Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference match Monday at Southern.

Dylan Cao, Jake Wall, Anthony Scala, Josh Gray and Dennzel Elcock won in singles for the Storm (4-4, 3-2 MPC), facing a Rams team with only five players.

Southern will play again Wednesday at home against Ledford at 4:30 p.m.

 

NW GUILFORD 6, SW GUILFORD 0

HIGH POINT - Northwest Guilford swept Southwest Guilford 6-0 in a Piedmont Triad 4A Conference match that was stopped after completion of the singles matches.

Southwest drops to 6-5 and 4-3 in the PTC. Northwest is 9-0, 7-0

 

ASHEBORO 6, LEDFORD 3

ASHEBORO -— Ledford lost three matches on tie breakers and fell to Asheboro 6-3 in a Mid-Piedmont 3A contest on Monday.

Winners for the Panthers (8-2, 4-1 MPC) were Thomas Freeman and Landon McGinn in singles and the doubles team of Rick Ydrovo and Freeman.

 

GOLF

 

AT HOPE VALLEY CC

DURHAM – Russell Marion of Westchester Country Day shot a 1-under-par 34 to take medalist honors as the Wildcats won a TAC conference match at Hope Valley Country Club on Monday.

Westchester finished with a 153 total for a 16-shot victory over Durham Trinity. Other counting scorers for the Wildcats were Hardin Councill (36), Thomas Walsh (39) and Jacob Allison (44).

Elon School finished third at 183, followed by Caldwell (189) and Burlington Charistian (199).

 

AT  LONG CREEK GOLF CLUB

BETHANIA – Ledford finished second and Southern Guilford fourth in a Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference match on Monday.

Asheboro took team honors with a 176, seven shots better than the Panthers. Southwestern Randolph was third at 188, followed by Southern (216), North Forsyth (218) and Northeast Guilford (223).

Alex Pugh of Asheboro and Andrew Routh of Southwestern Randolph tied for medialist honors at 4-over-par 41. Anthony Bradley and Brannon Shoaf each shot 43 to tie for Ledford’s low scorer. Ryan McClellan carded a 48 and Parker Hughes had a 49 as the Panthers others counting scorers.

Counting scorers for Southern were Daniel Greeson (49), Kaleb Spencer (53), Kevin Howard (54) and Jeremiah Fredere (60).

Asheboro leads the team standings for the season with a 521, 17 shots better than Ledford.
