Wesleyan volleyball sweeps Forsyth Country Day
WESLEYAN DEF. FORSYTH CD
LEWISVILLE — Caitlyn Michalski recorded 11 kills and three blocks as Wesleyan Christian Academy swept Forsyth Country Day 25-15, 25-12, 25-18 on Friday night.
Amanda Connette tallied nine digs, five kills and two aces for the Trojans (9-2), while Gracie Bulla had five kills and two aces.
Wesleyan plays host to Reagan on Monday afternoon.
WESTCHESTER 5, SALEM ACADEMY 4
HIGH POINT — Westchester Country Day School edged Salem Academy 5-4 on Friday to improve to 5-4 on the year.
Sophie Lanham, Catherine York and Avery Keefe won in singles for the Wildcats.
In doubles, Sawyer-Lanham and York-Keefe prevailed for Westchester, which travels to Salem Academy Tuesday at 4 p.m.
WESTCHESTER 5, BURLINGTON SCHOOL 0
HIGH POINT — Sam Argo scored the hat trick as Westchester Country Day School blanked the Burlington School 5-0 on Friday night.
Baxter Bruggeworth and Ryeong Choi added a goal and an assist each for the Wildcats (6-5, 3-3 TAC 2A), who got three saves from goalkeeper Cameron White. Westchester plays at Burlington Christian on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
JUNIOR VARSITY/MIDDLE SCHOOL
WESLEYAN TOPS FORSYTH CD
LEWISVILLE — Wesleyan Christian Academy junior varsity and middle school volleyball netted wins at Forsyth Country Day Friday night.
The Trojan jayvees won 25-10, 25-8 to improve to 9-1. Sarah Jordanmade two kills and seven aces, while Christina Cowal had three aces and two kills. The Wesleyan jayvees play host to Reagan on Monday at 4 p.m.
Wesleyan’s middle school team topped FCD 25-16, 25-21 to improve to 5-2. Helena Brown served two aces for WCA, while Megan Martin had an ace, a dig and a kill and Kyndal Robbins had two aces and two digs. Wesleyan middle plays at Greensboro Day on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
WHEATMORE DEF. T.W. ANDREWS
TRINITY — Wheatmore defeated T.W. Andrews 25-4, 25-17, 25-7 late Thursday.
Georgia Garrison recorded 14 kills and three aces for the Warriors (12-1, 4-0 PAC-6 2A), while Kelly Davis tallied 28 assists and four aces. Kathryn Johnson finished with seven kills and six aces for Wheatmore, while Emily Brown added six kills and Davey Albertson and Allie Grubb combined for four kills and four blocks.
Wheatmore visits Central Davidson on Monday.
NW GUILFORD DEF. SW GUILFORD
GREENSBORO — Northwest Guilford downed Southwest Guilford 25-11, 25-19, 25-13 late Thursday.
The Cowgirls fell to 6-7, 1-3 PTC 4A.
LEDFORD DEF. NORTH FORYSTH
WALLBURG — Haley Gordon recorded 11 assists, 10 service points and two aces as Ledford downed North Forsyth 25-16, 25-11, 25-12 late Thursday.
Amanda Myers tallied nine service points, seven kills and six aces for the Panthers ()10-2, 6-1), while Jessie Hayworth collected seven service points and two aces.
Ledford plays host to Western Guilford on Tuesday,
PROVIDENCE GROVE DEF. TRINITY
TRINITY — Providence Grove outlasted Trinity 25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 21-25, 15-9 late Thursday.
Shay Fielder led the Bulldogs (8-4, 2-2) with 16 assists, nine service points and one ace. Kaitlyn Green tallied eight service points and an ace for Trinity, while Casey Davis had 14 digs, 13 kills, 12 service points and three aces. Michaela Watkins had nine kills and five blocks.
NORTH ROWAN DEF. THOMASVILLE
THOMASVILLE — North Rowan defeated Thomasville 25-12, 25-21, 25-16 late Thursday.
Megan Kinley had eight service points and three aces for the Bulldogs (0-5 conference), while Christina Coleman had 10 service points, one kill and one block. Lisa Burgess had 11 service points for Thomasville, while Jashana Thomas tallied six service points, four kills and two blocks and Shakemia Matthews had seven digs, seven service points and two kills.
EAST SURRY 3, BISHOP 2
PILOT MOUNTAIN — East Surry edged Bishop McGuinness 3-2 late Thursday.
Logan Smith and Will Webster scored for the Villains. Ben Chapellow made nine saves in goal for Bishop.
Bishop fell to 2-6-1, 1-1. East improved to 6-5-0 , 2-0.
SOUTHERN GUILFORD 1, RANDLEMAN 0
RANDLEMAN — Oscar Jasso scored off an assist by Amilcar Martinez as Southern Guilford blanked Randleman 1-0 late Thursday.
Cesar Ruiz made seven saves in goal for the Storm (3-7-3). Southern visits High Point Central on Monday at 6 p.m. at High Point Athletic Complex.
RAGSDALE 1, WESTERN GUILFORD 1
JAMESTOWN — Enrique Gudino scored off an assist by Ryan Blaya as Ragsdale tied Western Guilford 1-1 late Thursday.
Daniel Kanakanui made six saves in goal for the Tigers.
AT SALEM ACADEMY
WINSTON-SALEM — Westchester Country Day School’s Abraham Hernandez and Abbi Khan posted individual wins in a cross-country meet at Salem Academy late Thursday.
Hernandez won the boys race in 18:27, while Khan took the girls race in 22:27.
The Wildcats’ boys prevailed with 31 points, followed by Trinity School of Durham with 45 and Salem Baptist with 50. Burlington School did not post a team score.
Salem’s girls won with 30 points, followed by WCDS with 41, Trinity Durham with 56 and Salem Baptist with 95.
Also for Westchester’s boys, Luke Evans placed second in 18:38, with teammate Josh Evans fourth in 19:45, Edward Linder sixth in 20:29, Thomas Vevellen 18th in 24:19 and T.J. Webb 20th in 29:50.
For the Wildcat girls, Alex Evans took second in 22:30, with Anna Hood ninth in 24:32, Annabelle Fisher 13th in 27:53 and Lauren Griffith 16th in 29:05.
