Wesleyan soccer stops HPCA, stays unbeaten

HIGH POINT — Kirby Robbins scored two goals and Cooper Robbins netted one as Wesleyan Christian Academy downed High Point Christian Academy 3-1 on Friday night.
Drew Mostoller and Creighton Dawsay dished assists for the Trojans (12-0, 3-0 PACIS 3A). Connor Bell made two saves in goal for WCA.
Ben Hardee scored for the Cougars.
Wesleyan plays host to Calvary Baptist on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
GASTON DAY 1, WESTCHESTER 0
HIGH POINT — Gaston Day scored on a penalty kick with 10 minutes to play and edged Westchester Country Day School 1-0 on Friday night.
Cameron White made seven saves in goal for the Wildcats (4-4). Westchester visits Carolina Friends on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
WESLEYAN MIDDLE SCHOOL 3, HPCA 0
HIGH POINT — Jackson Grimsley, Phillip Cimpean and Alston Stevens scored goals as Wesleyan Christian Academy netted a 3-0 victory over High Point Christian Academy in middle school action late Friday.
Connor Smith and Dalton Cardwell dished assists for the Trojans (4-1), who got three saves from goalkeeper Christopher Westcott.
Wesleyan plays host to Calvary Baptist on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

HIGH POINT — Wesleyan Christian Academy topped High Point Christian Academy 8-1 on Friday.
Mariana Gamboa won at No. 1 singles for the Cougars.

HIGH POINT — Wesleyan Christian Academy downed High Point Christian Academy 27-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16 on Friday.
Brittney Goodson led a balanced Trojan attack with 20 digs, eight kills and seven aces, while Gracie Bulla notched nine kills and Amanda Connette had 10 digs, five kills and three aces. Taylor Bouras recorded eight kills and two blocks for Wesleyan (6-2, 2-0), while Caitlin Michalski tallied eight kills and five blocks and Kelly Corn dished 30 assists.
Sydney Rowan led the Cougars with 24 digs and 17 kills, while Rachel Cox finished with 18 assists and 10 digs.
Wesleyan entertains Calvary Baptist on Tuesday at 5 p.m. HPCA plays host to Forsyth Country Day on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
HIGH POINT — Westchester Country Day School beat Gaston Day 25-10, 25-14 and 29-27. Sophomores Miranda Bryson and Leila Abebe led the Wildcats with strong passing. Freshman Terra Johns led WCDS with five blocks. Junior Kayla Watson notched 10 kills for the Wildcats (5-2).

HIGH POINT — Westchester Country Day School outlasted Burlington Christian 26-24, 11-25, 25-14, 25-27, 15-6 late Thursday.
Kayla Watson led the Wildcats with 11 kills and eight blocks. Freshman Maddie Dyson got Westchester off to an early lead in the 5th game with some strong serving. Freshman Terra Johns (7 blocks) also had her best game of the season in the final set with some very good back row defense.
RAGSDALE DEF. SW GUILFORD
HIGH POINT — Ragsdale defeated Southwest Guilford 25-13, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23 late Thursday.
Bojo Jada led the Tigers (9-3, 1-1 PTC 4A) with 15 kills and two blocks, while teammate Mikayla Pettyjohn recorded 13 kills and three blocks. Ragsdale’s Tessa Plateck made 13 digs, seven kills and six aces, while Erin Whitman had 12 digs, seven kills and two aces.
For the Cowgirls (6-4, 1-1 PTC 4A), Bri Burgins recorded 11 kills and two blocks, while Jordan Richmond tallied nine digs and four kills and Lizzie Blair notched 17 assists and five aces.
Ragsdale visits Southern Guilford on Monday. The varsity match starts around 6:30 p.m.
SOUTHERN GUILFORD 6, EAST DAVIDSON 4
THOMASVILLE — Oscar Jasso scored two goals and Juan Jarquin, Alex Espitia, Amilcar Martinez and Bryan Carrera added goal each as Southern Guilford edged East Davidson 6-4 late Thursday.
Jasso dished two assists, while Martinez, Jarquin, Espitia, Allen Gamez and Jeremy Griffith had one apiece. Cesar Ruiz made four saves in goal for the Storm (2-6-2), which visits Ledford on Monday at 6 p.m.
For East, Salvador Pecina tallied three goals and Ryan McIntyre had one.
AT HAGAN-STONE PARK
GREENSBORO — Cannon’s boys and girls raced to victory in action late Thursday at Hagan-Stone Park.
Cannon’s boys won with 28 points, followed by Grace Christian at 69, Westchester Country Day School at 98, Calvary Baptist at 120, Charlotte Country Day at 130, Greensboro Day at 149, High Point Christian Academy at 153 and Saint David’s at 198.
In the girls race, Cannon prevailed at 71, followed by Charlotte CD at 75, GDS at 80, St. David’s at 89, Salem Academy at 91, WCDS at 143, HPCA at 154, Grace Christian at 192 and Calvary Baptist at 252.
Cannon’s Patrick Hunter won the boys race in 16:46.
For Westchester’s boys, Abraham Hernandez placed sixth in 18:11, Luke Evans took 12th in 19:15, Josh Evans was 24th in 20:19, Edward Lindner was 25th in 20:22 and Thomas Verellen was 38th in 21:34.
For HPCA’s boys, David Loy secured seventh in 18:26, followed by Garrett Foster in 21st in 20:14, Jonathan Loy in 44th in 22:10, Parker Hamlett in 55th in 23:32 and Zach Krpejs in 60th in 24:16.
Greensboro Day’s Kaitlyn Lingard won the girls race in 20:01.
For Westchester’s girls, Abbi Khan took 12th in 22:59, followed by Alex Evans in 13th in 23:26, Anna Hood in 24th in 24:38, Madison Mozingo in 47th in 27:29 and Lauren Griffith in 59th in 29:32.
For HPCA’s girls, McKenna Farlow placed 18th in 24:01, followed by Peyton Labiak in 21st in 24:32, Sydney Harris in 31st in 25:23, EmilyAnne Elias in 42nd in 26:12 and three Cougars in 49th-51st in 27:49 — Brooke Cerak, Sunny Yang and Sydney Marenick.
AT SAPONA RIDGE
LEXINGTON — Ledford posted a big win in a three-team girls match at par-35 Sapona Ridge Country Club late Thursday.
The Panthers carded 111, followed by East Davidson at 156 and West Davidson at 157.
Ledford’s Julia Carroll was medalist at 35, with teammate Alexis Kershaw second at 36 and Meghan Holbrooks third at 40. Also for Ledford, Jordan Young and Kelsey Leach carded 43s.
For East, Sam Smith shot 46, Bayley Plummer 54 and Lori Morgan 56.
