Ledford sweeps Southern in MPC play

BOYS BASKETBALL
WALLBURG ­— Brandon Rothrock scored 26 points to help Ledford turn back Southern Guilford 63-46 in Mid-Piedmont 3A play on Monday night.
John Sullivan and Skyler McGree added nine for the Panthers, who led 33-24 at the half.
Ledford (9-5,3-1) goes to West Davidson on Wednesday.

BISHOP 65, AUSTRALIA COBRAS 30
KERNERSVILLE — Carlos Simmons hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points to led Bishop McGuinness past the Kilsyth Cobras of Australia 65-30 on Monday night.
Spencer Wilson added 10 for the Villains (13-2), who led 35-13 at halftime.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LEDFORD 60, S. GUILFORD 41
WALLBURG – Julia Carroll and Courtney Callicutt each scored 19 points to help Ledford stop Southern Guilford 60-41 in Mid-Piedmont 3A action on Monday.
Callicutt also had 10 rebounds, seven steals and four blocks for the Panthers (11-3, 4-0 MPC). Allie Fischer contributed nine points and six rebounds while Mackenzie Cranford had eight points.
Hailey Chandler led Southern with 18 points, followed by Khayla Miller (eight) and Nakomis Willimas (six).
Ledford travels to West Davidson on Wednesday.

BISHOP GAME POSTPONED
FLOYD, Va. – Poor weather in Virginia brought postponement of Bishop McGuinness’ game at Floyd County High School on Monday. It was rescheduled for Feb. 7.

THOMASVILE 57, E. DAVIDSON 24
THOMASVILLE — Thomasville took 10 matches and defeated East Davidson 57-24 in a Central Carolina 2A match on Monday.
Winners for the Bulldogs were Ray-shun Moore (106), Hiygee Martin (113), Jason Boutsady (126), Ahsan Butt (132), Kyrie Colson (138), Trevor Billie (145), Evan Makeupson (160), Kailen Bratton (170), Anthony Virsano (195) and Keith Clemmons (220).
Danny Wurdemann (120), Chase Robinson (152), A,J. Palmer (182) and Deven Hadsock  (285) won for East, all by pin.
Thoasville (19-3, 2-0 CCC) goes to the Northwood High duals on Saturday in Pittsboto. East drops to 10-13, 0-2.
