Westchester turns back Southlake, 6-4

BASEBALL

WESTCHESTER 6, SOUTHLAKE 4
HIGH POINT — Adam Kirkman pitched six strong innings as Westchester Country Day School defeated Southlake Christian 6-4 on Monday.
Kirkman scattered seven hits and struck out seven with one walk. He allowed just one earned run for the Wildcats (1-2). Donnie Sellers pitched the seventh and struck out two. He also went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. Myles Sowell was 2 for 3 with a double, stolen base, RBI and two runs for WCDS, while Aubrey Smith was 2 for 4.
Westchester visits Charlotte Country Day on Thursday at 5 p.m.

EAST DAVIDSON 11, WHEATMORE 0 (5)
TRINITY — Tyler Rhodes and Kelvin Pena comnbined on a five-hitter with seven strikeouts as East Davidson defeated Wheatmore 11-0 in five innings late Monday.
Rhodes improved to 2-0 for the Golden Eagles (2-1), who scored three in the first, two in the second and broke things open with three in the fourth.
Josh Scott (0-2) took the loss for the Warriors (0-4).
Pena went 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Rhodes 1 was 2 with a triple.
For Wheatmore, Scott finished 2 for 3 and Danny Turnbull was 1 for 3 with a double.
East hosts Southwest Guilford Wednesday at 4:30.

R.J. REYNOLDS 4, WESLEYAN 1
HIGH POINT — R.J. Reynolds topped Wesleyan Christian Academy 4-1 on Monday.
Beau Myers, Adam Lassiter and Hayden Manuel each had one hit for the Trojans (0-3). Jake Moebius (0-1) took the loss on the mound.
Wesleyan plays Charlotte Christian on Friday at 6 p.m. at Finch Field.

GOLF

AT BLAIR PARK
HIGH POINT — Grace Academy edged Wesleyan Christian Academy 163-170 in boys golf on Monday at Blair Park.
Wesleyan’s Bradley Calloway was medalist at 38. Other scores for the Trojans (0-1) were Chase Cranford’s 41, Jordan Smith’s 45 and Zach Skeen’s 46.
Wesleyan plays Gaston Christian at Blair Park on Thursday at 4 p.m.

TENNIS

T.W. ANDREWS 6, PROVIDENCE GROVE 3
CLIMAX — T.W. Andrews netted a 6-3 PAC-6 2A victory at Providence Grove on Monday.
Matthew Cool, Adish Phapa and Antonio Tuth won in singles for the Red Raiders (1-3, 1-0). Mohamed Mansour-Christopher Jarrett, Cool-Phapa and Faisal Sulman-Tuth prevailed in doubles.
Andrews plays host to Atkins Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

LEDFORD 6, NORTH DAVIDSON 3
WALLBURG — Ledford swept the doubles en route to a 6-3 victory over North Davidson late Monday.
Will Harrington, Matt Hartzell and Alan Bodea won in singles for the Panthers.
Harrington-Hartzell, Shelby Spainhour-Cameron Maxwell and Bodea-Jeffery Phillips prevailed in doubles.

SOFTBALL

WESLEYAN 10, RIVER MILL 0 (5)
HIGH POINT — Cayla Cecil struck out 12 in a five-inning one-hitter with no walks as Wesleyan Christian Academy blanked River Mill 10-0 on Monday.
Katie Bailiff went 3 for 3 with four RBIs for the Trojans (4-0), while Kayla Brewer finished 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs and Geena Autry was 2 for 3. Sydney Parker was 1 for 2 for Wesleyan, which visits Cannon on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

LEDFORD 5, EAST DAVIDSON 2

WALLBURG — Grace Holland slugged a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to spark Ledford to a 5-2 victory over East Davidson late Monday night.

Holland went 1 for 3 and her blast gave the Panthers (1-1) a 5-1 lead. Megan Hayworth got the win, striking out eight in a complete-game seven-hitter.

Destiny Deberry finished 2 for 3 with two steals for Ledford, while Erin Crotts was 1 for 1 with an RBI, Bayleigh Griffith was 1 for 3 with a double and RBI, Jessie Hayworth was 1 for 2 with a double and Megan Hayworth was 1 for 3.

For the Golden Eagles, Selena Metcalf was 2 for 4 and Sarah Bowles, Andrea Grant and Ally Wike each were 1 for 3 with a double. Brooke Walser took the loss, giving up seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts 

East plays host to Southern Guilford Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Ledford opens Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference play at North Forsyth Tuesday at 5 p.m.

BISHOP MCGUINNESS 11, PARKLAND 1
WINSTON-SALEM — Ernae Pinnix struck out four to earn the win as Bishop McGuinness defeated Parkland 11-1 late Monday.
Erin Redden went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four runs for the Villains, while Samantha Pelc finished 3 for 4 with a double and two runs. Ella Allen-Bolton went 2 for 5 with a run for Bishop, while Julia Errington was 2 for 3 with a run, Pinnix was 2 for 4 with a run and Bronwyn Cortez was 2 for 4 with a run.

SOCCER

WESLEYAN 3, GASTON CHRISTIAN 1
HIGH POINT — Ashleigh Kelley made seven saves in goal as Wesleyan Christian Academy topped Gaston Christian 3-1 on Monday.
Caylin Prillaman, Sarah Stahl and Kennedy Case scored for the Trojans (1-1). Savannah Hyder and Karly Beck dished assists. Wesleyan plays host to Cannon on Thursday at 6 p.m.
