Letter to the editor: Preacher Steve says thank you

Nov. 17, 2013 @ 05:16 AM

As many of your readers know, we here at His Laboring Few Ministries have been through some trying times in the last several months.  Having financial problems along with our pastor and the founder of His Laboring Few ministry Steve Ervin known as “Preacher Steve” being in a softball accident back on July 7th this year at our annual fellowship softball game. Preacher Steve sustained a head injury which resulted in him losing his memory of everything. All of this combined, we have done some serious struggling.

Preacher Steve has ask me to write this letter to the editor and let all of you know he is so grateful for your outpouring of love and financial support and prayers. The way you all came forward and gave to the ministry so we could keep the ministry doors open and keep on feeding, clothing and ministering to people in High Point and Thomasville and surrounding areas has really been a huge part in Steve’s recovery and in restoring his faith in the importance of serving hurting people as Jesus commands us.

Steve wants you all to know that he is doing well.  He has not regained his memory as far as people and places but he is meeting people almost daily and continues to be a active part of the ministry. Preacher Steve wants to get the word out that His Laboring Few will continue to be available to the lost, hurting and needy.  Our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners outreach will go on as it has for all these years. We will also make toy bags for children who are in need as toys are available.

At this time we just want you all to know without the love and financial support of the community this wouldn’t be possible. We can not even adequately express to you in words how you blessed us and helped us in this very difficult time. The people we reach out to are the ones struggling to keep their lights on, food on their table and a roof over their family’s head.  They do not have it to give, so we are grateful for the unselfish kindness you show in supporting HLF.

If you as an individual, business, Sunday school, or youth group that would like to do a toy drive for the children or donate turkeys to help feed the thousands or you would like more general information about the ministry please call us at 336-475-2455 ext 1 or 2. Our address is 812 Martin Luther King Drive,  Thomasville NC  27360.  Thank you all! Jesus loves you.
