Your View: Cut worker pay/benefits, not Social Security, Medicare

Apr. 21, 2013 @ 02:36 AM

What’s going to happen next? I thought Obama was elected president to run the country and help people, not try to bankrupt it or let big government steal us blind.
In his new budget, and by the way the only one that I know of so far, he says he may have to cut Social Security and Medicare. Why? This is the only thing the people paid into most of their lives. It’s the only thing that has a surplus of money in it — until the government started dipping into it to pay for their pet projects.
It’s not our place to pay for things the money was not for in the first place. Obama said he was giving back 5 percent of his pay — big deal $20,000. What is that when the country paid $4 million for one vacation. He stopped White House tours, said it cost too much. How much did it cost to play golf with Tiger Woods. How much did it cost for his wife to take a bunch of family to all the other countries?
The government workers have better retirement insurance and other benefits and raises that we working people never got or will ever get, but you will never hear of them getting cut.
Now, Obama acts like it is a crime for any government workers to go on short-time or be laid off. Why did they not try to save any of the millions of jobs given away by the great trade agreements made by our government? All Obama and the rest in Washington want is how much more they can get for themselves before we end up like Enron.

• I think it is WRONG. I don’t smoke or drink; cigarettes are a scapegoat. Tax alcohol at a rate of $1 per can, $5 per fifth. Pick on something else.

• It couldn’t be prevented! We have 50 percent or less knowledge of homegrown or foreign idiots in the U.S. Most have no respect for themselves, much less anyone else!
