Your View: There’s plenty of room to cut U.S. budget
This is what happens when the “idiocracy” elects a president who lies as naturally as most of us breathe. It’s “sequester” time in our country, because the only true criminal class, Congress, and our tax and spend and borrow and spend Emperor can’t, after two years, come up with a plan to save our country from further financial ruin.
The sequester mandates a “horrifying” 2.3 percent cut in spending with half coming from our defense. That’s from a $3.5 trillion budget. Since 2002, federal spending has exploded from a $2 trillion budget into a $3.5 trillion budget in 2012 — a 75 percent increase.
Therefore, according to the Demagogue-In-Chief, cutting 2.3 percent will usher in Armageddon: “The ability of emergency responder to help communities recover from disasters will be degraded. Border Patrol agents will see their hours reduced. FBI agents will be furloughed. Federal prosecutors will have to close cases and let criminals go. Air traffic controllers and airport security will see cutbacks, meaning more delays. Thousands of teachers and educators will be laid off. Hundreds of thousands of Americans will lose access to flu vaccinations and cancer screenings. People will lose their jobs.”
None of the above is necessary.
This is what we’re supposed to believe will happen by cutting 1.2 percent of non-defense spending. This shameless, vile demagoguery is unlike anything seen from any president in my lifetime. The sole intent to frighten the citizenry, in the same way these same people have, for too many years, used Medicare and Social Security demagoguery to frighten the elderly, all for political gain. The enemy within!
If you must cut your household budget by 2.3 percent, you don’t skip, food, mortgage, rent or utilities bills, you cut non-essential items. You first stop your donations to the DNC, and perhaps cut your planned monthly vacations to one!

What is going on with making repairs to damage caused by the fire at Blair Park grill? It is taking too long to get it opened back up. I miss going up there to eat and see my friends. I will wait for some news!

A political strategy memo from America Votes, a national political nonprofit group, calls for opponents of state’s GOP leadership to weaken its ability to govern by crippling GOP leaders and to “eviscerate the leadership.” The memo has drawn reaction because of its blunt language. • We would be better served if this organization devoted efforts to presenting better ideas than those they want to eviscerate. What good would disemboweling a politician do?
N.C. Sen. Jerry Tillman, R-Randolph, introduced a bill to set up a new version of the payday lending practice. Is such a program beneficial? Is such a program risky for participants? In 30 words or less (no name, address required), email us your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org.
