Your View: I weep for those hurt by health care act

Dec. 13, 2012 @ 01:54 AM

It is probably well-known by readers of this page that I voted for Gov. Romney in the 2012 presidential election.  I want to weep – not because we lost the election – but for the thousands of workers who immediately received bad news because Obama’s Affordable Health Care legislation is still alive.
Restaurant employees will work fewer hours, some employees even losing their jobs because of requirements this terrible law places on employers. And these are harbingers of things yet to come because this law fails to acknowledge reality.
Good legislation improves circumstances, but this law makes things worse for many it was supposed to help.  Any endeavor that ignores or camouflages truth and reality will never deliver as promised.
Capitalism has worked admirably to improve conditions all over the world.  Subverting this truth by accusing all successful persons in the capitalistic society of being greedy oppressors of the poor does not alter facts.  However, it does camouflage the greed for power exhibited by our current president. His health care law is more about control than availability.
“The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled and assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.  People must learn again to work instead of living on public assistance.”  This quotation, attributed to Cicero in 55 BC, perfectly describes current affairs.  I think we all know what eventually happened to Rome.
We will join Rome as just another once-great-nation destroyed by sloth and greed, unless we return to a philosophy that allowed the United States to become great. Our Constitution protects individual freedom – which is never “dated,” as current radical liberals suggest!
God Bless.

The folks in Washington don’t care about us
In reference to Robert Barnett’s letter of Dec. 6, President Obama is not black; he is biracial is he not? But if people want to call him black, that’s fine with me.
Now as for Barnett’s claim that Obama saved the auto jobs, he should go to his local bank and ask them who holds the majority of the trillions of dollars debt that the United States has. The United States is printing the money, but it being backed by the Chinese so the stimulus program that President Obama had was backed by the Chinese in a round-about way. If they ever call in their loans, we’d better learn to speak Chinese because they own us now!
Now, if anyone reading this letter thinks that the people in Washington care about us, I’ve got some beach-front property down here in Randolph County that I’ll sell you! They’re not worrying about the “fiscal cliff.” It won’t affect them because of their pensions and benefits. If it was going to, they would settle it. Republicans and Democrats I’m talking about.
