Carolina Taylor Borden
THOMASVILLE — Carolina Taylor Borden, 62, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7. 2014 at Thomasville Medical Center.
Celebration Services will be held Sun. Jan. 12, 2014, 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. A viewing will be held 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Borden leaves to cherish her memories a husband of 43 years, Will F. Borden; there beloved dog, Boo Boo; sisters, brothers, in laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

TRINITY — Mr. Donald R. (Don) Bowers, 76, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Hospice Home at High Point following a long period of declining health.
A resident of this area all of his life, Don was born in High Point on January 19, 1937 to the late Clarence and Viola Swing Bowers. Don was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting, sang in the choir, served on numerous committees and was a Sunday School Teacher. Don was recognized by the Meeting House for his service by honoring him with the Archdale Friends Meeting Quaker Man of the Year Award.
Don graduated from High Point Central High School and from High Point College in 1959. His teaching career spanned Randolph County, including Randleman for 20 years; Ramseur, Trinity High School, NorthState Business College; West Davidson, Thomasville, and GTCC. He volunteered at C.O.A.T., Communities in Schools, Trinity Historical Society; and Mendenhall Plantation. He was married to Mary Ann Pless Bowers, who preceded him in death in 2000.
Surviving are his daughters, Meredith Bowers of Trinity and Heather Thompson and husband Mark of Trinity and their two daughters; Jessica and Sarah Thompson. Also surviving is a special Brother-in-Law, Jacob “Sonny” Pless. Don also has many other cousins, relatives and acquaintances who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at Monday at 2 p.m. at Archdale Friends Meeting, 114 Trindale Road, Archdale, with Pastor David Mercadante officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Road, Archdale.

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Myrtle Lucille Grubb Ferguson, 93, died peacefully on Jan. 9, 2014, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thomasville.
She was born to Harvey D. and Ella Mae Black Grubb on June 27, 1920, in Thomasville, NC. Myrtle was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. She was married to Alfred Ferguson who preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elaine Cline, a niece Rachel Guy and 2 brothers, Paul E. and Harvey Lee Grubb.
Surviving is a brother Everette Grubb and wife Hazel of Thomasville, two nieces and three nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2013, in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville, NC with Reverend Michael Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home. Interment will be held at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

TRINITY — Tonya Maria Helton, 45, died Jan. 9, 2014, at her home, following a four-year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, following the service.
Kenneth “Jack” Steve Pugh
HIGH POINT — Kenneth “Jack” Pugh, 91 of High Point, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8th.
He was born Nov. 1, 1922, to the late Mary Orr Pugh and Alfred Pugh in Guilford County. He was married to the late Elsie Crowson Pugh. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army and ended his career at SilverKnit Hosiery as a head affixer. Mr. Pugh was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved attending all family events with all his family and eating breakfast with his friends. He loved to garden and watch his grape vines grow.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Elsie Crowson Pugh and six siblings: Tom Pugh, Bob Pugh, Hap Pugh, Nell Harbin, Annie Pugh and Edith Pugh.
Mr. Pugh is survived by a daughter Jackie Gregory and husband Jerry, step daughter Linda Whittington and husband Jerry all of High Point. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Megan Gregory Squires and husband Anthony, Sherry Whittington Williams, and Derek Whittington and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Pugh will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend Frank Hensley and the Reverend Mark Loy officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to as the loving staff at Hospice of the Piedmont and Pennybyrn at Maryfield for all their care and genuine affection during the final stages of his life.

DENTON — Zenobia Eleanor Garner Richardson, 88, of Trinity, died Janu. 11, 2014.
