Richard H. Davis
High Point — Richard H. Davis, 89, a former resident of Oakview Road., passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Westchester Manor. Richard was born in High Point, April 14, 1924, a son of the late David F. Davis and Lena Turner Davis. An Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, he worked in banking and real estate until his retirement in 1990 at which time he spent many hours on the golf course and playing gin rummy with friends at the Elks Lodge. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Hester Davis and two brothers, Charlie and Jeff Davis.
Surviving are a daughter, Priscilla Reagan and husband Mike of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a brother, Raymond Davis and wife, “Nomy,” of Winston-Salem; a grandson, David Long and wife, Janna, and great-granddaughter, Taylor, of Hobe Sound, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Westchester Manor who cared for him for the past three months, and to Piedmont Christian Home where he spent many happy years prior to entering Westchester.

Kenneth Ray Elliott
HIGH POINT — Kenneth Ray Elliott, 71, passed away on Feb.2, 2014. Ken was born on Nov.21, 1942, in Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Allene (Hughes) Elliott, and a brother Bobby Elliott (Sara) of Charlotte.
Ken enjoyed fishing, collecting Native American artifacts, and anything to do with history. He was a former Boy Scout Leader at First United Methodist Church in High Point. He assisted many young men in obtaining their Eagle Scout Award. Ken received the distinguished service award of The Silver Beaver, for his many years of service to the Boys Scouts. He was a Civitan Citizen of the Year.
Ken was a graduate of Denton High School. He retired from Cedar Creek Hosiery Mill in High Point.
Ken is survived by his wife Kim Sparrow Elliott, and stepson Taylor Sparrow; daughter, Andrea Elliott Walker of Thomasville and husband Mark, and grandsons Brantley and Brayden Walker. Brothers: Jimmy Elliott (Melanie) of Denton; James Elliott, of Dallas, NC; Wayne Elliott (Fran) of Jacksonville, Fla; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb.8, from 5-7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 380 S. Main St., Denton. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church.

LEXINGTON —Mr. Robert Kelsey England, 67, of Curtis Drive, Lexington, NC, died Wednesday, February 5 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 7 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will see friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Dewey George Black
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Dewey George Black, 73, a resident of Thomasville, died Sunday afternoon, February 2, 2014, in the Thomasville Medical Center. He was born November 14, 1940, in Davidson County, a son of the late James Wilson Black and Janie Sally Smith Black. Mr. Black was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard. He was a member of Southgate Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Lillie Frances Black and Janice Kay Southards and a brother-in-law Hoyt Southards.
Surviving are a daughter, Lori Ann Black Newton and husband Randall of High Point; a brother, J.W. Black and wife Pat of Thomasville; a granddaughter, Brittani LeAnn Newton and fiancée Zachary Earnhardt; and his special feline companion of fourteen years “Peanut.”
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Garner officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Randolph County Animal Shelter, 1370 County Land Road, Randleman, N.C. 27317.

Ann “Sissie” Warwick Boles Mattox
November 3, 1961 – February 3, 2014
ARCHDALE — The family of Ann Warwick Mattox is sad to announce her passing on February 3, 2014, at her home in Archdale. Ann had been in declining health for several years. She was of the Baptist Faith. Ann was preceded in death by her father Alvin M. Warwick Sr. Surviving of the home is Phillip Mattox along with her faithful dog and constant companion Abby. Also surviving is one son Christopher Boles of Thomasville, a stepdaughter Elizabeth Mattox of Greensboro, her mother Elizabeth Warwick of Thomasville, and two brothers, Alvin and Bill Warwick along with their families.
Visitation will be held Thursday February 6, 2014, at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 East Lexington Ave. in High Point between the hours of 6 until 8 p.m. Graveside service, conducted by Reverend Mark Hollar will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Sallie Mitchell Allgood
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Sallie Mitchell Allgood, 97, of High Point died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Allgood, daughter of James and Viola Rash Mitchell, was born March 25, 1916, in Iredell County.
She graduated from Union Grove High School and married Rev. J.D. Allgood, Jr., in 1944. Rev. and Mrs. Allgood served the Redbank Baptist Church in Germanton for ten years and East Grimes Chapel in High Point for over 22 years. Mrs. Allgood was active in WMU, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She also worked in 20 Vacation Bible Schools and taught the Laubach Literacy Course. Mrs. Allgood was a member of Green Street Baptist Church and a member of the Helen Bowman Sunday School Class. One of her blessings was working in the 24-hour Prayer Room at Green Street Baptist Church. Also, she was blessed by being a member of the Widows Might Prayer Ministry sponsored by GuideStone of the Southern Baptist Convention.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. J.D. Allgood Jr. and one sister, Delia Mae Holland.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Hassell and husband, Calvin of High Point; two granddaughters, Michelle Stone and husband, Stan of Laurens, SC, and Jennifer Vaught and husband, Shane of Archdale; three great-granddaughters, Chesney Grace, Sallie Frances and Elizabeth Parker Stone of Laurens, SC: two great-grandsons, Samuel Chase and Haden James Vaught of Archdale; a niece, Ramona Golden and husband, Clark of Lewisville; two nephews, Medford Holland of Statesville and James Holland and wife, Saundra of Olin; and one cousin, Gerry White of Statesville.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Green Street Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating. A visitation will be in the foyer one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston-Salem.
