Stephen D. Philemon Sr.
LEXINGTON —Stephen Dearmond Philemon Sr., 70, of Holloways Church Rd., Lexington died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Rowan Medical Center. A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Burial will follow.
MEBANE — Diane Hobby, 61, died on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Maxine Myrick Myers, 95, a resident of Thomasville, died Saturday, February 1, 2014, in the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. She was born October 17, 1918, in Wyoming, a daughter of Fred Myrick and Carrie Stout Myrick.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by grandchildren, James Cranford and Lori Strickland.
Surviving are daughters, Patty Cranford and Rose Anne Strickland, both of Thomasville; granddaughter, Gayle Lawson; great-grandchildren, Steve West and wife Melissa of Lexington, Tommy West, Alicia Hicks and Brandon Hicks, all of Thomasville; and Christopher Cranford and wife Megan of Whitsett; and Eight Great-Great Grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Myers will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the service hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

LEXINGTON — Ronnie Sanders, 55, of Bridle Creek Trail, died Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Yadkin Baptist Church in Spencer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home on Bridle Creek Trail.
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Sharon Ann Worley Farris, 53, died Feb. 3, 2014, at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete at Davis Funerals and Cremations.
GREENSBORO— David Ernest Jones, 76, a former long time resident of High Point, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Golden Living Center after a short period of declining health.
David was born in High Point on October 31, 1937, the only child of the late William (Ernest) Jones and Mary Dennis Jones. David was a graduate of High Point College where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega and earned a degree in Business Administration in 1962. He worked for Burlington Industries and for the City of High Point. He was a long time member of the Green Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include cousins.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Frank Hensley. Burial will follow in Mechanicsville Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. THOMASVILLE — Mr. Ronald Welborn Morphis, 72, of Thomasville, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2014, while at the Forsyth Medical Center. Ronald was born to J. W. Morphis and Dorothy Walker Morphis on January 9, 1942. In November of 1962, he married Caroline, the love of his life, and they had two wonderful daughters. Ronald and Caroline attended Rich Fork Baptist Church of Thomasville and he had retired from Thomasville Furniture and had worked part time at the Greensboro Auto Auction, where he and his fellow co-workers enjoyed driving and working with all the automobiles that came through the auction. Ronald was predeceased by his parents, J. W. and Dorothy Morphis. He is survived by his wife Caroline; daughters, Ginger McAdams & husband Kevin and their child, Jessica Baldwin & husband Derrick, and Gail Duncan & husband Tim with their children, Ashley & Ty. He is also survived by his brother, Noel Morphis & wife Linda of Columbia, S. C.; and his sister, Ann Hedrick of Lexington, NC. In addition, he is survived and remembered by an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ronald’s service will be Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Rich Fork Baptist Church (3993 Old Hwy 29, Thomasville) at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday, February 7, at J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice. HIGH POINT — Mrs. Elizabeth Ferree Rogers, 99, resident of Westchester Manor died Saturday at the Manor.
Mrs. Rogers was born Sept. 2, 1914, in Randolph County a daughter of John and Nannie Baldwin Ferree. She had been a resident of High Point most of her life and was a former employee of Anvil Brand Inc.and Archdale Mfg. Mrs. Rogers loved to sew, make dolls and work with crafts. She volunteer as a school buddy in Randolph County, loved antiques and gardening. Mrs. Rogers also made quilts for the homeless and wrote poetry and children stories.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was married to Wayne Robert Rogers who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter; Mrs. Ruth Walker and husband Franklin of Greensboro and one son; Don E. Rogers and wife Kay of High Point.
Three grandchildren; Robert (Robby) Rogers, Donna Royals, and Leslie Walker; three Great Grandchildren Shannon Preston, Kaylin and Alex Royals; and two Great Great Grandchildren; Grace and Grant Preston.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Dr. by the Rev. John Vernon. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerry Cole Williamson
TRINITY — Jerry Cole Williamson, 71, of Trinity, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at Hospice Home of High Point.
Jerry was born Dec. 19, 1942, to the late Theodore and Frances Cole Williamson. He enjoyed a successful career in sales, retiring in 2007 from Arthur A. Oliver. Jerry was a longtime member of the Hartley Drive YMCA of High Point, where he formerly served as a board member and was an avid racquetball player. On May 25, 1963, he married the former Glenda Hopkins, who survives of the home. Jerry is predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Katherine (Kate) Thornton.
In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by daughters, Susan Williamson Thornton and husband Joe and Carla Williamson Kent and husband Rob; sisters, Sandra Williamson Dixon and Linda Williamson Leonard; grandchildren, Jarod Thornton, Parker Thornton, Julia Faith Thornton, Isabella (Bella) Thornton, Audrey Kent, and Claire Kent.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Rodney Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

LEXINGTON — Lindsay Rae Aldridge, 27, of Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, D.C., died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at her parent’s home on Silver Hill Road in Lexington. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Becks Lutheran Church. Visitation will be after the service in the Becks Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
LEXINGTON —Mr. Carl Lee Taylor, 83, of Station Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 2 at Pine Ridge Health of Thomasville after declining health. No public services will be held. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
HUNTERSVILLE — Kathryn Grey Clapp Dickerson, 47, of Huntersville, NC passed away February 1, 2014 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. Born on November 28, 1966, in Princeton, NJ to Joseph and Helen Roberts Clapp, she grew up in Greensboro, NC; Potomac , MD; and Akron, OH, and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. Following post-graduate work at East Carolina to earn her teaching credentials, she was employed by Sylvan Learning Systems becoming International Director of the Year in 1998. After starting her family, she taught in public schools in High Point, NC, and most recently was Literacy Facilitator at Huntersville Elementary. Her license plate read, “WORDGIRL,” displaying her love of her profession. She also loved rooting for the Tar Heels, as well as for any team one of her boys was playing for at the time.
Kathryn grew up in a Christian home and her faith was her defining characteristic. She, her husband and children lived that faith daily. It was essential to her dealing with the challenges of the cancer that she fought bravely for nearly 5 years and counseled many others as they fought as well.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband Greer Dickerson; sons, Will Dickerson and Jonathan Dickerson of the home; step-son, Ryan of Greensboro, NC; and sister, Amy Beatty and her son Jackie of wilmington. NC.
