ASHEBORO — Mr. Darrell Lyn Williams, 65, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.
A funeral service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Lucille Beck
LEXINGTON — Lucille Black Beck, of East Old Highway 64, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service and other times at the home of her son, Eddy Beck, on Darr Place in Lexington.

ASHEBORO — Mrs. Elsie Marie Hudson Johnson Scott, 88, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.  There will be a committal service following the visitation at 8 p.m.

Alene Swaney
DENTON — Mrs. Alene Williams Swaney, age 95 formerly of Trinity died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at Mountain Vista Health Park.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at their respective homes.

Tony deQuevedo
THOMASVILLE — Rafael (Tony) Garcia deQuevedo, Jr. 2/22/51 - 7/16/13, died peacefully in his Thomasville home from an apparent heart attack. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Rafael Garcia deQuevedo of Washington, DC and Connor Marie Sherrill deQuevedo of Charlotte, NC. Tony was raised in Cincinnati and later attended school in NC. He worked for the City of High Point for over 19 years and retired in November of 2000.
He is survived by his sister Diane Jorgensen, her husband Conrad Jorgensen of Mill Valley, Calif., and Tony’s nephew, Michael McGauley, Jr. of Fairfax, Calif., his cousins, Dr. & Mrs. Hampton Lefler of Hickory and Dr. & Mrs. Doug Ririe, their 3 daughters Katherine, Caroline and Charlotte of Winston Salem.
A service to celebrate Tony’s life was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, with the Rev. Michelle Foster officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.cumbyfuneral.com. Arrangements by Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point.

Justin Thomas Parrish
DENTON — Mr. Justin Thomas Parrish, 23, a resident of Denton, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 in the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 19, 1990 in Guilford County a son of Phil Steven Parrish and Pamela Kearns Parrish.  He was employed with Shuler Meats, Inc. of Thomasville.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Baby Michael.
On March 12, 2010 he was married to Shannon Hedrick, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his parents, Pamela “Pam” Parrish and Steven “Steve” Parrish, both of Thomasville; a daughter, Keely Parrish of the home; son, Ryan Parrish of the home; step-daughter, Hannah Stacy of the home; step-sons, Jordan Stacy and Skylar Stacy of Archdale; sisters, Alysha Parrish of Lexington; brothers, Michael Parrish and wife Kerry of Troy, Xzavier Parrish and Landon Parrish, both of Thomasville; maternal grandmother, Jane Edwards of High Point.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at 4 p.m. in Cid United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Young and Rev. Robert Hedrick officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

HIGH POINT — Mr. Richard Clyde ‘Rick’ Pendry, 57, of High Point died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at The Journey Church.

Ardell J. “Doc” Fowler
LEXINGTON — Ardell Junior “Doc” Fowler, 66, of Burgess St., died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral service will be at 2  p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Village Dr. with family visitation a half hour before the service.

James Earl Sansing
HIGH POINT — Dr. James Earl Sansing died on Aug. 5, 2013 after a short illness.
Jim was born Oct. 3, 1923 in Newton County, Miss. to James E. Sansing, Sr. and Cynthia Chapman Sansing. He graduated from Mississippi College with a BS in Chemistry in 1948 and from UNC Chapel Hill with a PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1953.
During WWII, he served in the US Army in the Philippines.
As a research chemist and manager of Agricultural Research, he worked for Allied-Signa/Honeywell from 1952-1984.
He was very active in his church and community. In church, he served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher, driver for ill patients and the elderly, church maintenance volunteer and dishwasher extraordinaire. In the community he worked with the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, Guardian ad Litem, Our Father’s Table, Mobile Meals and was a High Point Regional Hospital volunteer.
Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to his professional colleagues. He was a kind and quiet man with a dry sense of humor. In addition to being an enthusiastic gardener, he could repair just about anything around the house. He was dearly loved by family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Jim was pre-deceased by Janie Smith (sister), Edward Pierce Sansing (brother), and John Edward Sansing (son).
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy M. Sansing; son, James Sansing and wife Dale Sansing; daughter Dr. Mary Sansing and husband Dr. Lester Hurrelbrink; daughter-in-law, Reverend Valerie Sansing; siblings, George Marvin Sansing and Helen McCarty; and 7 grandchildren: Michelle Sansing March and Christopher Wells; Julia Hurrelbrink, Katherine Hurrelbrink and David Hurrelbrink; Aubrey Sansing Kelm and Jenna Sansing.
Memorial service will be held at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, 836 West Lexington Ave. in High Point at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 with inurnment in the columbarium and visitation to follow at the church.

Syble Wall
SOPHIA — Syble (Galloway) Wall, 63, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Lawrence Wayne Wall to whom she was married to for 45 years on Sept. 28, 2012.
Mrs. Wall was born on Aug. 21, 1949 in Dutton, Ala. a daughter of the late Jessie and Ruby Louise (Knopps) Galloway. She was a graduate of Allen Jay High School.
In her spare time, Mrs. Wall enjoyed reading historical and romance novels, cooking large meals for family and friends, and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wall is survived by a daughter, Amy Wall and her fiancé, Franklin Stout of Archdale; a brother, Pete Galloway and his wife, Pam of Thomasville; two sisters, Felicia Jacobs and her husband, Glenn of High Point, and Pam Chard of Trinity; and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by a daughter, Tia Diane Wall who passed on Oct. 15, 2007.
A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Rev. Roger Carmichael officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
