Jackie Campbell

REIDSVILLE — Jackie Campbell, 68, died Thursday, June 12, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at his home from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Cremation

services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society.


George Ellis 

HIGH POINT — George Mark Ellis, age 78, of High Point, North Carolina, passed away due to heart complications on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the High Point Regional Hospital.

Mr. Ellis was born on February 25, 1936 in Shell Creek, Tennessee, to Paul and Lillian (Hoss) Ellis.

He graduated from Cloudland High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in Alaska. He married Phyllis Ann Simerly on December 26, 1956 in Roan Mountain, Tennessee. He graduated from University of Tennessee in 1960 with an engineering degree. He began his career as an industrial engineer in Roanoke, Virginia and eventually moved to High Point, North Carolina.

He lived in High Point for 40 years, and he enjoyed fishing, basket weaving and watching UT sports in his retirement.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Ellis; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and David Mikkelson of Fayetteville, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Keith Huff of Kernersville, North Carolina; four grandchildren and two brothers, Paul "Sonny" and Randy Ellis.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton, Tennessee. The receiving of family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

James Gray

SILER CITY — James Laurel Gray, 93, of Siler City died Thursday, June 12, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Irene (Gray) Gray of the home; one son, Ronnie Gray and wife, Charlene of Archdale, NC; one daughter, Shirley Freeman and husband, Bill of Siler City, NC; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC.  The funeral will be Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 303 Hillbrook Blvd., Siler City with Pastor Bobby Shutt officiating.  A small graveside service will be in Westminster Gardens, Greensboro at 3:00 p.m.

Stanley Harmon

KERNERSVILLE — Stanley Mason Harmon, 74, went home to be with the Lord June 12, 2014.

Graveside Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday June 16, 2014 at Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.

A native of Woodlawn, Virginia, Stan was the son of the late Eula and Guy Harmon. He was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church. He served his Country with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Gilbarco in Greensboro following 33 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a sister Gaynelle Harmon.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years Vicki Shields Harmon of the home; son Darren Harmon and Andrea of Kernersville; grandson Mason Harmon; sisters, Murel Suggs of Salem, VA, Fern Hughes of Alexandria, VA, and Adrena Palmer and Glenn of South Carolina; brothers, Don Harmon and Joyce, and Ralph Harmon all of Woodlawn, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.

Samuel Jones

LEXINGTON — Samuel Harold Jones, 83, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15,  at Madison Heights Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home.


Robert Nance  Jr.

HIGH POINT — Robert Neely Nance  Jr., 75, died Thursday, June 12,  2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Curtis Reddeck

TRINITY — Mr. Curtis Milton Reddeck, 92, of Trinity, died June 12, 2014 at his home.

He was born March 24, 1922 in Randolph County to Curtis George and Annie Isom Goodwin Reddeck. On August 26, 1944, he married the former Marie Spencer who survives of the residence.

A lifelong resident of Trinity, he was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and the Kilgo Bible class. He served on the church board in various offices and participated in the United Methodist Men. Curtis retired from Carolina Spring/ Leggett & Platt after 47 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by half siblings Clifford Goodwin and Geneva Wall, sister Wilma Fields, and brother Sherman Reddeck.

Surviving are a daughter Melissa Nance and her husband Chuck of Trinity; two sons, Doug Reddeck of Trinity and Steve Reddeck of Efland; granddaughter, Mia Nance; and two brothers, Richard Reddeck and wife Pat of Thomasville and Leon Reddeck of Archdale.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Prospect United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Funeral Service in Archdale.

LEXINGTON — Jesse James Smith, 70, died Tuesday June 10, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital at Forsyth Medical Center.

Arlene Walker 

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Arlene R. Walker, 51, was called home on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.

She was born on December 3, 1962, in Portsmouth, Va. to Legolia Hunter and Willie Lee, who preceded her in death.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in High Point. Her hobbies included cooking, singing in the choir and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 16 years, Jerry W. Walker; her children, Porscha Walker, J’reia and Lavondis (Patrice) Jackson, Julia, Takeya, Lemar and Antonio Charles. Also surviving are her two sisters, Legolia Lee and Cathlyn Staples Hunter; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and close friends.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Arlene will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at St. Paul Presbyterian Church in High Point, 309 Summit Road. Interment will follow in Carolina Biblical Garden.


Doris Younts

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Doris Brinkley Younts, 91, a resident of Kure Beach and formerly of Edgewood Ave. in Thomasville, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at The Laurels of Salisbury.

She was born on March 16, 1923 in Davidson County, NC to Robert Ellis Brinkley and Lucy Pope Brinkley.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Davidson County Homemakers Association.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served in the United Methodist Women.

She was an artist and member of the Red Hat Society.  She loved the ocean in the later years of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Younts on August 26, 1998; son, Charles Michael Younts; sister, Edna Tysinger; and brothers, Bobby and Rayford Brinkley.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy Younts of Thomasville; son, Mark Younts and wife Ethel of Salisbury; brother, Reverend Van Brinkley and wife Ida of Thomasville; grandchildren, Sloan Ponder, Bryer Younts, Bo Younts, Sara Younts, Israel Melton, and Nathan Melton; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cris Uren officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 at the church.  Mrs. Younts will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the visitation.

The family would like to express a special thank you to caregivers, Essie Mae Long, Gayle Puckett, Pat Jones, and The Laurels of Salisbury for their loving care.
