DENTON — Mrs. Darlene Knupp Cripps, age 66, of Brantley Gordon Rd., Denton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at her residence. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 6, at Old Fashioned Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. TRINITY — Harold Sherman Earnhardt, 73, a resident of Trinity, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. He was born on January 13, 1941, in Guilford County, to the late Earsley Safrit Earnhardt and Robert Wade Earnhardt and had been a resident of the High Point area all of his life. He was employed with High Point Fire Department and retired after 19 years of service. He was a member of English Road Baptist Church. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith Combs Earnhardt, of the home, his son, Harold Earnhardt Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, of Trinity, and their sons, Brandon Harold Earnhardt and Andrew Tyler Earnhardt. Also surviving is his brother, Wayne Earnhardt, and his wife, Pat, of Archdale, a special brother in-law, Gordon Combs, and his wife, Judy, of Thomasville, and a special sister in-law, Betty Steadman, and her husband, Bill, of Trinity.
A service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in the Mausoleum Chapel at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, with Reverend Dr. James Summey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Robert Glenn Jacobs
ARCHDALE — Robert Glenn Jacobs, age 86, passed away April 2, 2014, at his home. Mr. Jacobs was born in Loudon, Tenn., to Robert Benjamin and Anna Lou Hyde Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs served his country in the U. S. Army and was owner and operator of Robert Jacobs Knitting. He was a member of New Grace Baptist Church in Thomavsille. Surviving are his wife, Daisy Hill Jacobs of the home, two daughters, Sandra Gale Whisnant of Archdale, and Sherry Lewis and husband, Steve, of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., and a step-daughter, Suzanne Fowler and husband, Sam, of Winston-Salem. Mr. Jacobs has one son, Robert Lee Jacobs and wife, Etta, of North Dakota, and one step-son, David McAlpin of Thomasville. There are three sisters, Georgie Maxine Linville of Greensboro, Sharon Hill of High Point and Ruby Jennings of Thomasville, and one brother, Colbert Jacobs of Thomasville and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Mr. Jacobs will remain at Sechrest Funeral Service, in Archdale, until taken to the cemetery, Friday, at 2:30 p.m. The family will speak with friends following the service at the cemetery. HIGH POINT — Timmy Craig “Timbay” McMaster, Sr. was born December 15, 1965, in High Point. He was the youngest son of Johnnie Mae “Judy” Davis McMaster and the late Robert “Bobby” McMaster. Tim blessed heaven with his presence on April 1, 2014. Tim met the late Phyllis Denise Waterson and they were married in 1990. In April of 2000, he married Angela Michelle Johnson. Tim was father to six children: LaTasha, Talia, Jaylen, Timmy “TJ” Jr., Ashley and Nicholas. He had 5 grandchildren whom he adored: Brandon Jr., Evan, Tristan, Aubrey and Ty’Jhawn.
As an all-star athlete at Southwest High School, Tim excelled at football. He was well liked and very popular amongst his peers. While he enjoyed playing all sports and was quite good at all of them, football was his passion. Tim was an employee of Sherwin Williams for over 10 years and was previously employed by Akzo Noble for 16 years as a faithful and dedicated employee. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed his job and loved his co-workers. He was a devout father and husband. As head of the household, he always endeavored to show a sense of responsibility and dedication toward his family. It was vital to him that all his children knew the importance of hard work and he exemplified this on a daily basis. Tim was a man of faith always knowing that God had a plan for him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Martha Haywood.
In addition to his wife and children, Tim leaves to celebrate his life his mother, Johnnie Mae “Judy” McMaster, six siblings, Sharon Richardson, Robert “Suki” McMaster (Swanette), Joyce Diggs (Ronald), Michael McMaster (Melissa), Regina McMaster, Rosalind “Sandy” Monk (Tony) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 1 p.m., at Word of Life Tabernacle Church, 1801 Deep River Rd. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until 1 p.m. Interment will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro. GREENSBORO — Jerry S. Swiggett, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Jerry was born on May 27, 1956, in Kinston, N.C., the son of Henry G. and Alice Marie Whitehurst Swiggett. He grew up in Danville, Va., with his family and graduated from George Washington High School with the class of 1974. He graduated from Guilford College with a BA in Accounting and later graduated with a BS Degree in Nursing from Winston Salem State University.
He was employed with Peak Resources of Alamance as a Registered Nurse. Jerry was a giving person who loved his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Jerry is survived by his parents and sister, Alice S. Workman and husband, Mike, all of Thomasville, nephews, Darren Workman and wife, Lauren, of Austin, Texas, and Kyle Workman of Raleigh. A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, 3 p.m., at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
