THOMASVILLE — Doris Beach passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2013.
She was born March 31, 1934 in Trap Hill, NC to Charles Sexton and Mae Viola Lyon.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Thomasville Funeral Home in Thomasville, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Thomasville Funeral Home.

GREENSBORO — Blanche Brackett, 93, of Heritage Greens, Greensboro, died March 2, 2013.
The funeral will be at Stamey Funeral Home, in Fallston, N.C., on Thursday, March 7, at 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m.
Norma Lee Marion Cecil
CHARLOTTE — Norma Lee Marion Cecil, 86, passed away on March 1, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was loved and will be missed.
Norma was born on Nov. 7, 1926, in Surry County to the late Eddie Franklin Marion and Daisy Wood Marion. She married her husband Rowlin Melvin Cecil in 1945 and they were together for 56 years until he passed in 2001.
She is survived by her sister Edna Marion Taylor; brother, Johnie Marion and his wife Patra; daughters, Carolyn Dilda, and Debbie Adams and her husband Skip; five grandchildren and their spouses; and five great-grandchildren.
Norma graduated from Hasty High School in 1944, and then secretarial school. She was given the nickname “Ralph” by her first infant grandson, and her family called her by that name for the rest of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and devoted fan of Carolina basketball.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2013 at 3 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Jolin McEllroy officiating. Burial will follow in Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

WINSTON SALEM — Ned Cockrane Jr., 54, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his residence.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Union Baptist Church. A visitation will be held an half an hour prior to the service. A viewing will be Sunday March 3, 2013 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

JAMESTOWN — Robert Woodrow Hodge, 78, a resident of Jamestown, died Feb. 28, 2013.
A service to celebrate Hodge’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
LEXINGTON — Jesse Edward “Cotton” Leonard, 70, died peacefully at his home March 1, 2013.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reeds United Methodist Church.
Linda Ghant Locklear
ARCHDALE — Ms. Linda Ghant Locklear, 67, resident of 105 Naola Ct. and formerly of Westchester Harbour, died March 1st, 2013, at her residence.
Ms. Locklear was born Aug. 11th, 1945, in Union County, a daughter to the late Isaac and Annie Louise Wilson Ghant. She moved to this area from Charlotte and has resided here 48 years, most recently with Richard and Connie Long. She was a beautician and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland and Bill Ghant; a nephew, Steven Long; and a niece, Lisa Seymour.
Surviving are three sisters, Geraldine Miles of Charlotte, Lillian Long of Charlotte and Carol Wilson of Albemarle; and a brother, Doug Ghant of Dallas, NC.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Mrs. Diane Holman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262. HIGH POINT — Heaven has another angel. Infant Serenity Aaliya Sanders went to be with the angels on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center.
Serenity is survived by her parents, Leroy “Bryant” Sanders, Jr. and Shameka Crisp; one brother, Leroy Sanders, III.
