Ernestine “Tina” C. Borton
LOCK HAVEN, PA — Tina C. Borton, 71, of Lock Haven passed away at Susque-View Home on Monday February 25, 2013.
Tina was born in Williamsport on December 12, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Clarence F. and Martha (Case) Hurr. She was a 1959 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and the Williamsport School of Commerce. Tina worked as an office manager in North Carolina where she resided for 24 years. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Methodist Church in Sophia, North Carolina.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and watching wildlife. Tina loved caring for her Bichon, Casper, who was a great companion for her. Her greatest joy was her two grandchildren, whom she enjoyed spending time with.
Surviving are a son, Dwayne A. (Brenda) Corter of Beech Creek; a daughter, Holly A. Corter of Lock Haven; three brothers, Larry (Mary Ellen) Hurr of AL, Wayne (BJ) Hurr of MD, Allan Hurr of FL; and a sister, Marilyn (Keith) Rayhorn of VA; two grandchildren, Logan R. Corter and Andrew A. Corter of Beech Creek.
A memorial service will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard Saturday March 23 at 5:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Stan Johnson.

Barbara Irene Phillips Brinkley
WALLBURG — Mrs. Barbara Irene Phillips Brinkley, 79, of Wallburg Community died Monday, February 25, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenn View Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Brinkley will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem, until one hour before the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
HIGH POINT — Esther Alice Miller Casselbury, 88, of High Point died Sunday at Clarebridge of High Point. Born May 20, 1924, in Bradford County, PA, she is a daughter of the late Pearl Miller and Susan King Miller. She is a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy in Pensacola, FL, and later was a member of the local Wave veteran’s organization, Tarheel Unit 44 in Greensboro. She was an avid bowler and competed in several leagues in the High Point area. Mrs. Casselbury volunteered in the public schools in Sayre, PA, as a Library Aide, teaching reading to first- and second-graders. She is a former member of First Methodist Church of Sayre, PA, where she served on the administrative board. After moving to High Point, she attended Christ United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Stroud, Ruth Smith and Clara Houseknecht; and a brother, Leslie K. Miller.
Mrs. Casselbury is survived by her husband, Wayne Casselbury of the home; and two daughters, Joan M. Casselbury of Winston-Salem and Janice E. Bohnet of High Point. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and a special nephew Bruce and Dawn Houseknecht of Kernersville.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Esther Casselbury will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point. The family will greet friends following in the Life Tribute Center at the funeral home.

Brianna Denise “Bree” Edwards
ASHEBORO — Heaven just got a little more precious because Bree went to be with Jesus ... Miss Brianna Denise Edwards, 2, of Asheboro died Monday, February 25, 2013, at Randolph Hospital.
Brianna was born on July 28, 2010, in Asheboro, a daughter of Roy Brengle and Carmen Wilson Edwards. She attended Forest Park Baptist Church with her family. Brianna touched everyone’s heart, and the joy she brought in two-and-a-half short years will last a lifetime. We look forward to reuniting and holding you in our arms in eternity.
She is survived by her parents, Roy and Carmen Edwards of the home; a brother, Cody “Bubbles” Edwards of the home; maternal grandparents, Robert and Robin Wilson of Sophia; paternal grandparents, Donald and Phyllis Edwards of Asheboro; great-grandparents, Howard and Nancy Hopkins of Eden, Stella Edwards of Asheboro and Judy Swain of Lincoln, DE; aunts, Rhonda Welch and husband, Robert and Nancy Presnell.

Karen Maxine Ferrell
HIGH POINT — Karen Maxine Ferrell, 73, passed away on February 25, 2013, at her home with her family by her side. She was born December 31, 1939, in Logan, West Virginia. Karen was married to Stollie Ferrell Jr. for 54 years in July. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Jamestown. Karen was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She loved her many friends and church family and had many friends and family in West Virginia. Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Karen is survived by her husband, Stollie; her sons, Charles Curtis, Steven Wayne and Terry Donald Ferrell; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ada Trent of Man, West Virginia; and a brother, Bobby Garrett of Cleveland, Ohio. A graveside service will be on Thursday, February 28, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery in Jamestown. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point.
KERNERSVILLE — Carey Foster Harris, 71, a resident of Kernersville, died Monday, February 25, 2013.
He was born on September 2, 1941, in Guilford County, NC, to the late Calvin Harris and Venus Elizabeth Wester Harris, and was a 1959 graduate of High Point High School, now High Point Central. He had owned and operated Harris Tool and Associates for 35 years. Foster grew up in Green Street Baptist Church in High Point, where he was leader of the RA Program and was later a member of Union Cross Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, meeting people and telling stories. He especially enjoyed making people laugh and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his wife; Frances Sells Harris.
Surviving are his daughter, Cammie Collier and her husband Ben of Kernersville; his sister, Judy Johnson and her husband Floyd of Kernersville; his brothers; Darrell Harris and his wife Stella of Greensboro, and Dennis Harris and his wife Christie of High Point. Also surviving is a special friend, Gloria Westbrook of Kernersville.
A service to celebrate Foster’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Union Cross Baptist Church, with Reverend Dr. Mark Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cross Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. THOMASVILLE — Jeweldine Holder, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC.
Jeweldine was born November 8, 1929, in Surry County to the late Albert C. and Bessie Gamble Towe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Holder; sisters, Barbara Cain, Pauline Floyd, Joyce Towe, Charcey Towe, Haver Riggs; brothers, Herbert Towe, Harvey Towe, Billy Towe; parents.
Jeweldine is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Medlin; sisters, Vernell Goins and husband Ray of Mount Airy; brother, Charles Towe and wife Dare of King; grandchildren, Derek Medlin and wife Teresa of Thomasville, Tosha Briles and husband Trent of Trinity; great-grandchildren, Zachary Flowe, Cameron Jewel Briles of Trinity, Micheal Briles and wife Sydney and great-great-granddaughter, Braylin of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Thomasville Funeral Home. A Chapel Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Ferguson officiating. Interment will be at Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Barbara Ann Pitchford Jones
HIGH POINT – Mrs. Barbara Ann Pitchford Jones, age 71, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at her residence in High Point where she had lived for about 50 years.
Barbara was born July 22, 1941, in Greensboro and was a graduate of both Rankin High School and Kings Business School. Her work included Burlington Industries, Food World and Kroger, retiring in 2006 from Harris Teeter as Deli Manager.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents, Lee and Cleodell Burgess Pitchford of Brown Summit and her Huband, J. Wilson Jones of Whitetop, Virginia.
She is survived by her son, Scott D. Williamson and Sheila Taylor of Greensboro; two sisters, Becky P. Murr and her husband Dennis of Anderson, SC, and Kitty P. Bowman and her husband Billy of Greensboro. Also surviving are her significant other, Johnny Dale of High Point along with two nephews and two great-nephews, all from Anderson, SC.
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service at 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point with the Reverend Brenda Durham officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.

LEXINGTON — Tony Patrick Kirk, 44, of Lexington departed this life on Friday, February 22, 2013. Carl Alton Lewallen
TRINITY — Mr. Carl Alton Lewallen, 72, of Trinity, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.
Carl was born May 16, 1940, in High Point, a son of the late Frank Lewallen and Elsie Samuels Lewallen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Lewallen; and two brothers, John and Donald Lewallen. Carl was a member of Community Baptist Church, formerly Faith Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and volunteered his time as a serviceman to the church. He worked at several hosiery mills as a fixer, retiring from Cedar Creek in 2009. On May 1, 1964, he married the love of his life, the former Mary Gromling. He was an avid sportsman and could do any task that was set before him with great skills. He will be greatly missed but will be a great friend to the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lewallen of the home; three sons, David Lewallen of the home, Paul Lewallen and wife Laura of Trinity and Frank Lewallen of Archdale; three sisters, Pat Cox of Seagrove, Jean Conrad of High Point and Sarah Moody and husband, Weaver of Troy; and four grandchildren, Jesse, Steven, Jeffrey and Lauren Lewallen.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 28, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Ty Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

THOMASVILLE — Mr. Ray Martin, 78, a resident of 1110 Whitehart School Road, died Tuesday morning, February 26, 2013, in the Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 16, 1935, in Davidson County, a son of John Lee Martin and Margaret Stroud Martin. He was owner and operator of Ray Martin Construction. Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. Mr. Martin was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing. He was married to Barbara Jean Kennedy Martin, who died November 4, 1972. He was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Karmela Martin; brothers, Donald Martin and Buddy Martin and his parents.
Surviving are a son, Randy Ray Martin of Thomasville; grandchildren, Noah Ray Martin, Jacob Michael Martin, Ashley Nicole Cox, Justin Alexander Dickens and Jackson Ray Warnstaff; great-grandchildren, Noah Ray Martin, Jr. and Haley Martin; sisters-in-law, Judy Martin of High Point and Jeanette Robinson of Kannapolis; brother-in-law, Kirby Kennedy of Greensboro; his beloved feline companion “Miss Kitty;” and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 3 p.m. in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brian Crady officiating. Mr. Martin will remain at the J.C. ARCHDALE — Infant Kylee Marie Paschal went to be with the angels February 23, 2013. She is the daughter of Brandon Paschal and Patience Barnette. Kylee is also survived by grandparents Todd Allen Craft and Christy Canter Craft of Archdale, great-grandparents, Ray Paschal, Floyd and Linda Canter Cromer, Mike and Pam Craft; and great-great-grandmother, Marie Hites. She is also survived by aunts, Ashley Paschal, Macy Craft and McKenzie Craft; and uncle Chase Craft.

KERNERSVILLE –Vera Buck Roper, 71, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. She was born August 8, 1941, in Guilford County to the late Earl and Eva Deaton Buck.
Mrs. Roper was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her flower beds and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson Baby Timothy.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Paul Buster Roper of the home; three daughters, Lois Ann Shields and husband, Kenneth of Pinnacle, Ellen Mae Tolbert and husband, Rev. Michael Tolbert of Jamestown, SC, Hope Lynn Tinnes and husband, Gary of Winston-Salem; two sons, Paul Buster Roper, Jr. and wife, Janice of Thomasville, Donald Marvin Roper and wife, Sherry of Lexington; thirteen grandchildren, Felisha Davis, Erica Skipper, Aaron Tolbert, Jessica Nelson, Mandy Wardrup, Kaylan Tinnes, Gary Tinnes, Samantha Watts, Matthew Roper, Faith Roper, Patrick Roper, Michael Roper, and Allen Duke; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia Ann Wright of Thomasville; brother-in-law, Kenneth Roper; and many nieces and nephews.

THOMASVILLE – Mrs. Minnie Lee Williams Tate, 80, of 926 Franklin Street, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be Sunday in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. HIGH POINT — Mr. Allen Kim Terry, 50, passed on February 22, 2013, at his residence. He was born on February 28, 1962, in High Point, NC, to the late Melvin Terry and Lucille Hines Terry. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Peete.
Allen attended and graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School, Class of 1980. He also attended Ashworth College and majored in Psychology in 2000. He received his CCMA degree in 2012 from Thomas Health Care. He was a multi-skill worker and was employed as an EKG Tech for High Point Regional Hospital for 32 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 23 years, Monica M. Terry of the home; one son, Edward Goggans of Winston-Salem NC; one daughter, Mariah Terry of the home; one grandchild, Kailani Goggans of Winston-Salem, NC; six sisters, Doris Duff, Celestine (Thomas) Dickens, Shirlene Hicks, Gerrline Terry, Wyvonnia Hopkins, all of High Point, NC; his twin sister, Ellen Terry of Thomasville, NC; four brothers, Howard (Shirley) Terry of Maryland, Melvin (Lynn) Terry of High Point, NC; Darryl Williams of Asheville, NC, and Layeon (Patricia) Terry of Thomasville, NC; one aunt, Colleen Terry of High Point, NC; one uncle, Richard Terry of Ellerbe, NC; mother-in-law, Bertha Rigsby of High Point, NC; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; childhood friends dear to his heart, Willie Covington, Mario Washington, Greg Torrence, James Brand, Ricky Buchanan and Kelly McKiver; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church, 3400 Triangle Lake Rd, High Point, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.

Benjamin Williams Jr.
ASHEBORO — Mr. Benjamin “Benji” Allen Williams, Jr. passed away February, 20, 2013, in Melbourne, Florida. Visitation will be March 1, 2013, at Gailes Memorial Chapel, 1353 E. Salisbury Street, Asheboro, NC, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at First United Baptist Church, 1409 Deep River Road, High Point, NC 27265 with Rev. Tacuma Johnson as Eulogist. Family hour will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
A graduate of Southwest Guilford High School, High Point, NC, he also attended North Carolina Central University.
“Benji” served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Persian Gulf War.
Left to cherish memories are his loving wife, Yvonne Williams; children, Minister Justin Williams and Cameron Williams; parents, Dr. Benjamin Williams and Mrs. Evelyn Williams; children by marriage, Chandra Peak and Jarrell Peak (Josie); one brother, Mr. Jeffery Williams (Ellen); one sister, Dr. E. Benita Varnado (Craig); he will also be missed by nine grandchildren, one niece, three nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
