LEXINGTON — Christine “Teenie” Lambeth Black, 91, formerly of Westover Drive, died Feb. 22, 2013, in Lexington.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
Donald Phillip Cranford
HIGH POINT — Donald Phillip Cranford, 80, passed away Monday, Feb. 18,
2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born on June 27, 1932, to Herman P. and Robbie Faye (Alexander)
Cranford in Mooresville, N.C.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country from 1950-1953. He was a
graduate of High Point College in 1957 and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha
Fraternity. He married his college sweetheart, Betsy Rouse in 1956.
Mr. Cranford worked as a chemist at Reliance Universal and at AKZO Nobel
as a Sales Representative.
He was a Boy Scout Master at Crestwood Presbyterian Church in High
Point; the President of the High Point Jaycees; and very active in
community projects, for which he received the Nick Lawrence
Distinguished Service Award.
Don and his wife Betsy are members of Lebanon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three loving daughters,
Melanie Todd and her husband, Glenn of Lexington, Rev. Robbie Phillips
and her husband, Jamey of Beaufort, and Amy Lusk and her husband, Shelby
of Cary; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Philip Todd, Melissa
and Jay Phillips, and Garret and Madelin Lusk.
A celebration of life memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, March
1, 2013, at Lebanon United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tim James
officiating. Burial will be private at the request of the family. A
visitation will be held from noon-12:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon United
Methodist Church, 239 Idol Street, High Point, NC 27262.

RANDLEMAN — Mary Ruth Hunt Farlow, 64, of Randleman died Feb. 23, 2013.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Old Union United Methodist Church, 5077 Walker Mill Rd., Sophia.

ASHEBORO — Harvey William Hiatt, 79, of Asheboro died Feb. 22, 2013, at Randolph Hospice House.
Funeral will be held at noon Monday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Beane Family Cemetery in Black Ankle. Visitation will be held 10:30 a.m.-noon Monday at the funeral home.
Hilda Penn Hines
GREENSBORO — Hilda Penn Hines, 97, a resident of Friends Home West, died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013.
Hilda was born on Jan. 4, 1916, in Madison, N.C. and was the daughter of Howard Leath Penn and Hilda Wall Penn. She graduated from Madison High School and attended Salem College. She moved to Greensboro in 1935 and the following year married Walter Andrew (Bynum) Hines, Jr. who died in 1977. Hilda was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, and later served as Executive Secretary for Dr. John Redhead and Dr. Joe Mullin. She was a past member of the Pursers Book Club and a past member of the Guilford Battle Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Hilda was a gracious and caring Southern lady who was beloved by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Hilda is survived by a daughter, Hilda Penn (Penny) Cridlebaugh of High Point, and a son, Walter Andrew (Andy) Hines and his wife Nancy of Greensboro. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Walter Andrew Hines, IV of Mullins, S.C., Natalie Penn Cridlebaugh of Newport Beach, Calif., and Cameron Cridlebaugh, III and his wife, Nicole of High Point. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Timothy and Cameron Kelley, Tilman, Rowan and Emily Cridlebaugh, and a nephew, Ed Hines and family of Greensboro.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hilda was predeceased by her son-in-law, Cameron Cridlebaugh, Jr. of High Point.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25 at Riverview Cemetery in Madison. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25 at First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro. Following the service, the family will greet friends in the Virginia Gilmer Room.

Donald “Don” Ray Shaw Sr.
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Donald “Don” Ray Shaw Sr., 84, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
Don was born on June 30, 1928, in Denton, N.C., a son of the late Hallie Ray Shaw and Ruby Chandler Shaw and had made this area his home all of his life. He was raised and schooled in Denton, N.C., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War during the 1950s reaching the rank of Corporal. Don was co-owner of S.L.C. Motors, Inc. on Ballpark Road in Thomasville. He had a love for autos whether buying, selling, or working on them and also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Don never met a stranger and had lots of friends including one special friend Linda Lankford. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons Donald R. Shaw, Jr. and Franklin Neal Shaw; brothers, Von D. Shaw and Kenneth Shaw. On Sept. 1, 1972, he married Sylvia Sowers and they enjoyed forty years together.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his sons, Keith Shaw (Lynne) of Churchland, N.C., Brian Shaw (Suzanne) of Churchland, N.C.; daughter, Dianne S. Spears of Lexington, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn S. Shaw of Winston-Salem, N.C.; step-sons, Tony Ray Hulin (Gayle) of Thomasville, N.C., Robert Brian Hulin and friend Janice Turney of Thomasville, N.C.; grandchildren, Jason Spears, Justin Shaw, Ben Shaw, Ricky Shaw, Eric Shaw, Stacey Pollard, Ashley Harris, Bradley Hulin and Derek Hulin; great-grandchildren, Mallory Pollard, Marley Pollard, Kenneth Pollard, Daniel Spears, Mackinzy Harris, Madilyn Harris. Also surviving is his sister, Anna Shaw Burleson of Maryland; sister-in-law, Iris Shaw of Thomasville; step-brother, Nolen Garner (Polly); half-brothers, James A. Garner (Bonnie) and N.A. Garner (Joyce) all of Denton, N.C.; half-sisters, Patty Misenheimer (Vernon) of Burlington, N.C., Gayle Lamb (Joe) of Shelby, N.C., several nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor David Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service and at other times at their respective homes. Vera (Mosteller) Strickland
THOMASVILLE — Vera (Mosteller) Strickland, 79, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center after battling a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of the late Worth Odell Strickland who passed away in 2000.
Mrs. Strickland was born on Jan. 23, 1934, in High Point, a daughter of the late W.P. and Cola V. (Smith) Mosteller.
Mrs. Strickland was an active member of Allendale Baptist Church, and will be missed by her loving and caring neighbors, friends and family.
In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by two daughters, Kathie J. Gallman of Greensboro, and Terri L. Gallman of Asheville; two sons, John O. Gallman, III and his wife, Judy of Stokesdale, and Randall L. Gallman and his wife, Misty of Thomasville; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Allendale Baptist Church, 900 E. Springfield Road, High Point, NC, 27263 with Rev. David Younger officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at church.

Carol Allen Wall
PINEHURST — Carol Allen Wall, of Pinehurst passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013.
Services will be held at Chapel in the Pines in Seven Lakes, N.C., on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2 p.m.
Carol was born in 1932 in High Point, N.C. to the late Cletus and Pearl Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Bean and her brother, Randall Allen.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David R. Wall, Sr.; her three children: David R. Wall, Jr. and wife Saule of Charlotte; Bill Wall of Pinehurst, and Kathy Hicks and husband David of Raleigh. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Altusha and Davey Wall, Shannon Wall, David Hicks and wife Leisa, and Alexis Hicks; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Gavin Hicks. Carol is survived by her brother, Bill Allen of Trinity and sister-in-law, Paula Allen of Trinity.
