Buddy Hobart Griffie
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Buddy Hobart Griffie, 76, a resident of Fuller Mill Road North, died Friday morning, November 30, 2012 at his home.  He was born on September 16, 1936 in Davidson County, a son of Charlie Griffie and Flora Bean Griffie.  He was a veteran of the US Army and attended Hillside Park Baptist Church.  Mr. Griffie was an active volunteer with the Fair Grove Fire Department and had previously served with the Pilot Fire Department for a total of 47 years.
On September 9, 1972, he was married to Judy Gale Grubb, who survives of the home.  Also surviving are daughters, Layne Craver and husband Brad of Winston-Salem and Bobbie DiPilato and husband Dan of Thomasville; sons, Kevin English and wife Janet of Trinity and Randy Griffie of Wallburg; a sister, Shirley Eddinger and husband David of Thomasville; a brother, Franklin Don Griffie of Reeds; grandchildren, Bryan Hughes, Krysti Griffie, Paul Griffie, Megan Griffie, Jordan Parrish, Iveigh Parrish, Jude Byerly, Cierra DiPilato, and Scott DiPilato; and a great-grandson, David Finnerty.
Mr. Griffie will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to Fair Grove Fire Department, 211 Cedar Lodge Road, Thomasville, where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-9 pm and at other times at the home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Fair Grove Fire Department or to Hillside Park Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 441, Thomasville, NC 27361.  On-line condolences may be sent to

LEXINGTON — Ward Franklin Perrell, Sr., 81, died Nov. 29, 2012.

THOMASVILLE — Hilda B. Kennedy, 85, passed away on November 29, 2012.
Hilda was born March 28, 1927 in Forsyth County to the late Jason and Nannie Morton Burris.
She is survived by 4 children; daughter, Vickie D. Romine of Thomasville; sons, William L. Meredith of Thomasville, Barry A. Meredith and wife Chrissy of Orlando, FL, Billy L. Meredith of Thomasville; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and a nephew.
An 11:00 am Graveside Service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Holly Hill Memorial Park. Thomasville Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Henrietta “Ena” Belden
SIMPSON, Pa. — Henrietta “Ena” Washeleski  Belden , 90,  died Thursday, November 29th at Maryfield Nursing Home.
Ena was born in Simpson, PA on September 26, 1922 to the late Alexander and Tekla Washeleski.  She was a graduate of The Catholic University of America,  a Veteran of WWII and served overseas as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp.    Prior to retiring, she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Maryland School for the Deaf in Columbia, MD.  
Ena loved people and always opened her heart and home to family, friends and strangers.  She was a devout Catholic who was most recently a member of IHM Church, High Point, NC. She was also a voracious reader and crossword puzzle aficionado.
She is survived by seven children, William T. Jr. (Cathy), Mark A. (Kate), Norman J. (Phyllis),  Posie (Ando), Thomas M, Dana R. Beeson (Mike) and Christopher P. (Charlotte), ten grandchildren, ten  great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, William T. Sr.; daughter Martha L. Kramer and granddaughter, Lauren Thornburg; five brothers: Edward, Barney, Charles, Irwin, Eugene, and three sisters: Alice, Stella, and Cecelia.  
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson, PA on Monday, December 3rd at 9:30 AM. Interment with military honors in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Vesta Mae Gatta
PLANT CITY, FLA. — High Point native Vesta Mae Gatta, 83, died Nov. 29, 2012 of congestive heart failure.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wells Memorial Funeral Home, Plant City, Fla.  
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

WINSTON-SALEM – Amber Prock Willis, 39, died Nov. 30, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.  Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.

June Holbrook Frazier
ARCHDALE – Mrs. June Holbrook Frazier, age 91, a former resident of Trinity, died Thursday, November 29th at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A resident of this area for most of her life, she was born July 17, 1921 in Guilford County, a daughter to the late John Riley and Bessie Beck Holbrook. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and in earlier years served as youth counselor, was a member the United Methodist Women, served on the church council and was a member of the Happy Bunch. Mrs. Frazier retired in 1983 after having worked in retail sales for over forty years and  will be remembered, by many, for her twenty five plus years working as a sales manager for Sears Roebuck Company. On September 19, 1936 she married C. Shuford Frazier who died March 28, 2004. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter Peggy Auman in 2009; her sister, Louise Laurelli and three brothers, Branch “Buddy” Holbrook, Foy Holbrook and Colon Holbrook.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Frazier Bundy of Archdale; a son, Jerry Frazier and his wife Glenda of Sophia; six grandchildren, Pastor Marty Frazier and his wife Mary of Archdale, Chris Bundy and his wife Stephanie of Trinity, Scott Bundy and his wife Lori of Archdale, Lori Cox and her husband Tony of Archdale, Dr. Stephanie Sherrill and her husband Michael of Concord and Teresa Hopkins and her husband Walt of Wallburg; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in Prospect United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Dickens and Pastor Marty Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the committal service in the church Sanctuary.

Donald Wayne Smith
JAMESTOWN — Mr. Donald Wayne Smith, 57, of Jamestown, died November 29, 2012 at Wesley Long Hospital.  He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Wayne was born August 20, 1955, in High Point, a son to Franklin Duane and Jane White Smith.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Smith.  Wayne was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.  He was a graduate of Ragsdale High School class of 1973.  On September 27, 1986 he married the love of his life the former, Char-Lee Venuto.  Wayne was an independent car dealer.  He was a member of Jamestown Golf Association and was a former member of High Point Elks Lodge.  Wayne was an avid golfer, loved Ragsdale football, enjoyed beach music and spending time with his family and friends.  Wayne was an energetic and outgoing person who never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Char-Lee Smith of the home; two sons, Tyler Smith and Austin Smith both of the home; one brother, Craig Smith of High Point; two sisters, Dawn Smith and Jerry Odell of High Point and Carol Smith Ussery and her husband, Mike of Trinity; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, December 3rd at Jamestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Thore officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Lila Jordan
HIGH POINT — Lila Albertine Jordan, age 79, of High Point, NC, peacefully entered her eternal home on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.
Mrs. Jordan was born on September 22, 1933 in Horry County, SC. She was one of 17 children. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, the late Rev. Eddie Allison Jordan, her mother Sarah Ellen Capps-Lilly, and her father Van Eason Lilly, and brothers, Odell, Eugene, Charles, Larry and sister, Peggy Jo.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her 4 loving children, Kathy Swaney and husband Clinton of Denton, NC, Lila Beal-Summit and husband Doug of Lexington, NC, Eddie Jordan and wife Annette of Whitehouse, TX, and Mark Jordan of the home, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 6 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Juniper Bay Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Fred Hepler
THOMASVILLE — Fred Reese Hepler, 88, passed away November 29, 2012 at his residence.
Fred was born July 21, 1924 in Davidson County to the late Reid and Claudie Scarlett Hepler.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Hollis Hepler, Gene Hepler and Tony Hepler.
Fred is survived by a son, Wayne Hepler; brother, Loyd Hepler and wife Norma; sisters, Doris Duncan and husband Charden, Inez Swing and husband Claude and Clarice Phillips and husband James.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm Monday, December 3, 2012 at Thomasville Funeral Home followed by a chapel service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Gary Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
