David R. Hollifield Sr.
LITTLE SWITZERLAND — Mr. David R. Hollifield, Sr., 75, of Little Switzerland and formerly of 504 Cox Avenue in Thomasville went to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, April 17, 2013 at his residence.  He had been in declining health for several years.  He was born on January 22, 1938 in Guilford County to Chesley D. Hollifield and Ida Octivia Mills Hollifield.  He was a lifetime resident of Thomasville until he became ill with dementia.  He was of the Baptist faith and served in the US Army.  Family was of the utmost importance to him, and he was Mom and Dad to his three children and they thank him for his love and caring.  He cared for his three children with a uniqueness like none other.  Those who called him “friend” were many.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Chesley and Ida Hollifield; a grandson, Andy Rife; brothers, Cecil, Clarence, Lonnie, Leonard, Don, and Dean Hollifield; sisters, Annie Kate, Doris Rogers, Shirley Ely, and Helen Hollifield.
Surviving are daughters, Vickie Johnson and husband Hoyt, and Rita Hughes, all of Little Switzerland; son, David R. Hollifield, Jr. and wife Debbie of Thomasville; grandchildren, Eric Freedle and wife Carrie, Nicholas Freedle, Renee Freedle, Amy Hughes, Stacey Hughes, Amber Hollifield, Jessica Hollifield, and Matt Jones; and great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Hughes, Bailey Freedle, Chase Jones, Casyn Hollifield, and Colton Freedle.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor Tom Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.   The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. – until the service hour at the funeral home and at other times at the home of David and Debbie Hollifield, 108 Vivian St. Thomasville.  On-line condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.

HIGH POINT — Ruby Dickens Edwards, 81, of Kernersville, died April 18, 2013. Graveside service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery will be private.  Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Arrangements are being handled by Davis Funerals and Cremations.

GREENSBORO — Thomas M. Fields, 67, of Greensboro, died April 18, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman.

THOMASVILLE — DeLinda Sue Singleton Boles, 48, died April 19, 2013, at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville.

Russell Ball
TRINITY – Russell Wayne Ball, 54, died April 18, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Brian K. Easter
LAUREL, MD. — Brian Keith Easter, 43, died April 16, 2013 at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time at Phillips Funeral Service, Inc., High Point.

Mattie S. Sechrist
SOPHIA — Mattie Sumner Sechrist, age 78, of Sophia, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center, Archdale.
Mrs. Sechrist was born February 18, 1935, the daughter of Shelby and Ethel Sumner. Mattie was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband: Ray Sechrist, of the home; son David Sechrist and his wife, Lisa of Sophia; grandchildren, Brittany Sechrist of Sophia and Candice Outlaw and her husband Chris of Thomasville; sisters: Nellie Sumner of Sophia, Lucy Clinard of Thomasville, Frances Brower of Trinity, Annie Taylor of High Point, Betty Jean Frazier of Level Cross, and Margaret Watson of High Point; brother: Donnie Sumner of Trinity.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, N.C.  A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 U.S. Hwy. 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Doug Byrd  officiating.

LEXINGTON — Virginia Powell Carter, 88, died at her home on April 17, 2013, following an illness of three years.
