HIGH POINT — Grady Adams, 76, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.
HIGH POINT — Mr. Timothy Allen, 58, of 1239 Burkston Court died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Hospice Home at High Point following an extended illness.
Tim was born on December 7, 1954, to the late Willie Allen and Annie Ruth Brown Gaffney. Timothy attended Central High School and A&T State University. He was a United States Army veteran and most recently employed as an electrician at W.B. Moore Electric Company. He was a member of Another Chance Gospel Ministry.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Sylvester Allen.
Surviving relatives include one son, David Gibson of Jessup, MD; two daughters, Maria Alleyne and Tiffany Alleyne of Greensboro, NC; brother, Thomas (Janice) Allen of High Point; sisters, Glenda Fleming, Sandra (Bishop Fletcher) Little, Ruth (Allen) Dow, Linda (Min. Robert) Harrison, all of High Point, and Sherril Covington of Greensboro; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013, at the chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth St. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Keith Edwin Briley
HIGH POINT — Keith Edwin Briley, 60, of High Point died Tuesday at High Point Regional Hospital. Born November 10, 1952, in Elbert, West Virginia, he is a son of the late Earl and Ramona McCray Briley. He was a lifelong history buff and loved animals, music and food. Keith will be remembered as a very generous and kind man with a heart as big as he was. He was very reliable,” everyone depended on him.”
Mr. Briley is survived by a stepdaughter, Leslie Furman of Archdale; grandson, Gavin Hillebrand of Beaufort, NC; one sister, Rebecca Briley Stengenga of High Point. He is also survived by his loving companion, Cara Johnson of Greensboro; three nieces, Stephanie Stegenga, Shannon Parker and Alicia Flynt; and four nephews, Ronnie Baldwin, Jason Baldwin, Jonathan Baldwin and Derrick Welch; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews; and a special great-niece and build a bear buddy Valerie Wagner.
The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Life Tribute Center at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Frank Joseph Camizzi

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Carolyn Sechriest Carpenter, 91, a resident of Thomasville, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Carolyn was born in Thomasville on January 6, 1922, a daughter of the late Willie E. and Maye Beck Sechriest. She was married to Paul J. Carpenter in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Lloyd Sechriest.
Carolyn was a graduate of Thomasville High School, class of 1939, and Ashmore Business College. She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ and served as deacon, church treasurer, church financial secretary, president and secretary of the Chancel Choir, secretary and children’s teacher of the Sunday school, secretary and Circle chairman of the Women’s Guild. She was a member of the church Joy Group, a member of the O.J. Hedrick Bible Class and had served as its president, secretary and treasurer.
Carolyn was a former employee of Amazon Cotton Mills, Carolina Springs in High Point and was employed at Bowers Lumber Company until her retirement. She was also a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and had served as its treasurer. She also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are her daughters, Annette Carpenter and Beth Carpenter, both of Thomasville; a sister, Irma McLain and her husband Clyde of Thomasville; a brother, Dale Sechriest of Greensboro.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Fonville officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at J.C. THOMASVILLE — Mr. Charles Henry Embler, 57, a resident of Watford Road, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in High Point Regional Hospital. He was born March 31, 1956, in Guilford County, a son of the late Charles Mod Embler and Frankie Hicks Embler. He worked with property management with Embler Realty Co. and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mr. Embler also was a member of the Thomasville Optimist Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his sister, Rosemary Embler of Winston-Salem; his aunt, Nancy Patterson of Winston-Salem; his uncle, P.D. Embler of Denton, NC; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. David Bowman and Dr. Brooks Hunt officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville and at other times at the home of the sister, Rosemary Embler, 106 Gene Clodfelter Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

Emma Harrison Jackson
RALEIGH — Mrs. Emma Harrison Jackson, 93, of 3609 Vond Street, Raleigh, N.C., died on Tuesday, April 17, 2013 at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Johnson and Sons, High Point, is assisting the family.
Crissie L. Shumate
HIGH POINT — Crissie (Livengood) Shumate, 72, a resident of High Point, died April 16, 2013, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of the late James Wesley Shumate.
She was born on October, 6, 1940, in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Walter Clarence and Dolly Mae Livengood.
She worked for Globe Furniture Industries as a handsander and later as a homemaker and watched children in her home. She was a caregiver to her mother and brother.
She loved to cook, garden and take care of young children.
Mrs. Shumate attended Trulite Baptist Church when she was able.
Mrs. Shumate is survived by three sons, David Allen, James Allen and Donald Allen, all of High Point; two daughters, Connie Westmoreland and her husband Marty of Thomasville, and Debbie Khan and her husband Nicole of Greensboro; two stepsons, Wayne Shumate and David Shumate of Rhonda, NC; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud Livengood of Carolina Beach and Billy Livengood of High Point; a sister, Betty Noah of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Cleveland Allen.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend and was very special to all who knew her.
A special thank you to the staff of the Hospice Home, High Point, for the excellent care and support they gave to mom and our family, and to the nurses, CNA’s and staff at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, with Clayton Proctor and Ronnie McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
