Deborah Tyson

HIGH POINT — Deborah “Debbie” Michele Tyson, 50, peacefully made the transition to everlasting life on April 6, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on January 15, 1963 in Norfolk, VA, the daughter of Thomas and Mamie Tyson.
Deborah was raised in High Point and attended High Point City Schools and the Guilford County Sheltered Workshop.  She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Keith Tyson, Sr.
She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Deborah was a special angel from God and was loved deeply by her family, friends and everyone who met her.  She had a love for music and pocketbooks. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, we are strengthened in knowing that she has gone to be with her Maker and Redeemer.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memories; her mother, Mamie Jean Tyson of High Point, NC; one sister, Cassandra Tyson (Reginald) Washington, who she called “my Sissy” of High Point, NC; four nephews, Christopher (Stacy) Sturdivant, Sean Sturdivant both of Summerville, SC; Nicholas Sturdivant, Reggie Tyson  both of High Point, NC; two cousins who were like her brother and sister, Leon and Veronica  Jiminez of Winston Salem, NC, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1116 Montlieu Avenue, High Point, NC.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and other times at the home of her sister, 3221 Forestview Drive High Point, NC.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc., High Point, NC.

Corrine Vereen

HIGH POINT — On Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013 God dispatched his angels to 1238 Hillside Drive, Thomasville, NC, to the bedside of Corrine  Stephens Vereen, 78, formerly of 411 Park Street, High Point, NC. She was born August 15, 1934 to the late Charlie and Alice Stephens.  In addition to her parents, Corrine was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Vereen, one daughter, Evelyn Regina Galloway, four brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.  She retired from Holiday Inn Hotel Chain.
Corrine was a very caring and loving individual and friend to all those who knew her.  She always spoke in a soft voice and found humor in all situations. Corrine also enjoyed traveling, shopping and always looking her best.  She will always be remembered for her beautiful “hips” figure and “well-manicured nails”.
Left to cherish her memory are one loving sister, Magdalena Stephens of Hackensack, NJ; one brother, Henry (Rosa) Stephens of Tabor City, NC;  two stepchildren, Esther Dandridge of New York, NY and Charlie Vereen of Long  Island, NY; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish her memories.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave, High Point, NC. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her niece, Fay Ashworth, 1238 Hillside Drive, Thomasville, NC.
