THOMASVILLE – Lottie Evelyn Leak Davidson, 89, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in Brown New Calvary Baptist Church and burial will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at the home. S.E. Thomas Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
RANDLEMAN — Frances Juanita Shaw Lamb, 92, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2014.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Ridge Funeral Home.

HIGH POINT — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dr. Daniel Warren Mellinger II, who passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, will be held at 3 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church, 918 N. Main St. in High Point. The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the Family Life Center of the church. Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point is in charge of arrangements.
ASHEBORO — William L. “Bill” Mendenhall, age 74, of Asheboro died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.
Mr. Mendenhall was born February 19, 1940 to Fred and Mary Bell Mendenhall. He was the owner/operator of Bill Mendenhall Masonry for 54 years. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Betty Brown, Pete Mendenhall and Ruth Burleson. Bill enjoyed cooking and baking.
He is survived by his wife, Judy T. Mendenhall; daughter, Deana Hazelwood and husband Tommy of High Point; son, Lee Mendenhall and wife Melanie of High Point; stepson, Michael Smith and wife Rhonda of Maggie Valley; stepdaughter, Michelle Smith of Thomasville; grandsons, Zachary and Matthew Hazelwood; step grandchildren, Cayce, Killian, Corey, and Brittany Smith; brother, Robert Mendenhall and wife Jo of Asheboro; sisters, Lelia Foust, Ruby Cox and husband Wesley, Kay Slack and her husband, Jr., and Judy Moorefield all of High Point.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.

THOMASVILLE — Jimmie Albert Pegram, age 79, of Arden Drive, Thomasville passed away Thursday evening at High Point Regional.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Fairmont Presbyterian Church with Rev. Randy Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday night and at other times at the home of Charlene Warfford, 571 Shannon Drive, Lexington.
Jimmie was born in Guilford County, NC to Thomas Albert and Margaret Slate Pegram. He was active and attended Fairmont Presbyterian Church; a retired employee of US Postal Service as a city mail carrier and a veteran of the US Air Force. He was an avid bowler, square dancer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruby Shows.
Surviving are his daughters, Laura Fuller of Trinity and Susan Johnson (Dean) of Thomasville; son, Keith Pegram (Betsy) of High Point; wife, Barbara Lewis Pegram of High Point; grandchildren, Amber, Jason and Amy; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; companion and significant other, Charlene Warfford of Lexington; sisters, Louise Hiatt of Charlotte and Betty Byrd of Thomasville.

SOPHIA — Jo Ann Elizabeth Beeson Short, 79, died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at her home.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Road in Sophia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman is serving the family.
HIGH POINT — Mr. James “J.B.” Skinner, 88, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Hospice Home at High Point.
J.B. was born in Georgetown, SC, May 10, 1926, a son the late Richard Green Skinner and Lessie Freda Carter Skinner. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a magistrate for the Court System of the state of North Carolina for 30 years. In his earlier years he enjoyed sailing and hunting. J.B. was a Shriner and 32 degree Mason and a member of Oakview Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Myrtle Reagan Skinner and a brother, Carl Skinner.
Surviving are two sons, Benjamin Skinner and William Skinner; a brother, Richard Skinner and wife Wanda; two grandchildren, James T. Skinner and Ashley Skinner.
Graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Floral Garden Park Cemetery by Rev. Phillip E. Rhynerson. The family will receive friends at the residence of William Skinner following the service.
