KERNERSVILLE – Mr. Norman Bryan Austin, age 78, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. Norman was born February 20, 1935 in Durham Co. to Raymond Curtis and Annie Gates Austin. He loved his family and was an avid sports enthusiast. He was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Wilson.
Surviving are; his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Cheek Austin, four children; Reggie Austin ( Robin), Tommy Austin (Anne), David Austin (Dawn) and Karen Gray (Kermit), seven grandchildren, Beth Hodges, Shannon Grubbs (Justin), Joshua Austin (Ashley), Whitney Idol (Alan), Andrew Gray (Anna), Seth Austin, and Lonnie Austin, six great grandchildren, and three brothers, Curtis, John and Frank Austin.
A Memorial Service will be conducted 5:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church Thursday, October 24, 2013 with Rev. Jason Murray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Austin Family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the NC Alzheimer’s Foundation at 1350 Navaho Drive Raleigh, NC 27609, or to Kerner Ridge Assisted Living Activities Department at 250 Hopkins Rd. ARCHDALE — James Franklin “Frank” Gragg, 95, passed away Friday, October 19, 2013 at his residence.
Frank was born in Blue Ridge, GA, March 29, 1918, a son of Garfield and Martha Lewis Gragg. He was a Navy veteran of W.W.II. Frank owned Gragg Painting and Decorating and Gragg Paint Company. He was a member of Numa F. Reid Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Oasis Temple. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bartlett Gragg and 11 siblings.
Surviving are a son, Robert W. Gragg; two grandchildren, Michael Gragg and wife Helleyne and Janet Gragg Grogan; two great-grandchildren, Justin Gragg and Landin Grogan; a great-great-granddaughter, Bailynn Gragg.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the McDowell Memorial Park in Marion by the Rev. Mel Anderson. The family will receive friends at Davis Funerals and Cremations Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont. THOMASVILLE — James David Gunter, 66, of Thomasville passed away October 19, 2013 with his family by his side. David, son of the late James and Estelle Gunter, loving husband of Phyllis Clark Gunter, was born in Cosby, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his two sons, Shane and Shawn, and his daughter Shanda and was preceded in death by his other daughter, Shannon. He is also survived by five grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and his pets and playing with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private viewing and service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292, so that others may receive the same care that David received.
