THOMASVILLE — Roy Leonard Beck, 85, formerly of Thomasville, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He had been a resident of The Oaks at Forsyth for the past six plus years.
Mr. Beck was born on Sept. 1, 1928, in Davidson County to Ed Obdie and Claudie Elizabeth Leonard Beck. He was a machine operator and retired from the Masonite Corporation in 1990. Mr. Beck was a member of Central Wesleyan Church and the Willing Worker Sunday School Class. He married the former Marie Irene Myers Beck who preceded him in death on March 11, 2005. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Jacob, Ervin and Francis Beck and sisters; Tempie Beck, Sadie Clodfelter, Lillie Parker, Ida Mae Casteel and Maudie Truitt.
Surviving is a son; Raymond Leonard Beck and wife Jane of King, NC, a daughter; Ruth Beck Robbins and husband Harold of Thomasville, NC, a brother; Charlie Beck of Thomasville and three grandchildren; Kristal & Michael Robbins and Maria Beck Condon.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Central Wesleyan Church, 300 Hinkle St., Thomasville NC with Pastor David Albertson officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville NC 27360.

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Doris B. Mills Dickerson, 89, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Westchester Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Peacock officiating. Interment was held on Thursday, Oct. 10th in Picayune, MS.
SOPHIA — Mary Eleanor Hope Farlow, 75, of Sophia, NC, died Sept. 27, 2013, with her family at her side.
On July 5, 1938, Mary was born to James and Myrtle Hope in Urbanna, VA. She graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1956 and completed her B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Physics at the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina in 1960. On Aug. 7, 1960, she married Colon Wayne Farlow at the Huntersville Presbyterian Church.
Throughout her life, Mary was an avid reader and writer, consuming more than 65 books a year, writing poetry, and penning countless letters to friends and family. She shared her love of literature with those dear to her. Mary has inspired her grandchildren to read and write by sharing with them vivid worlds from cherished books. Her children envision art and industry because she questioned them and encouraged their passions without hesitation. Those who knew Mary create because she has inspired them, as she will continue to do despite her passing.
Mary is survived by her husband: Colon Farlow; three children and their families: son Bradley Farlow, his wife Phyllis Farlow, and their daughter Madeline, of Hillsborough, NC; daughter Eleanor Farlow, her husband Jeff Hill, and their daughter Zoë Little, of Sophia, NC; and son William Farlow, his wife Suzanne Farlow, and their children Alexander, Etta, and Liam of Lewisville, NC. She is also survived by her sisters Mildred Barnette and husband Jim of Queenstown, MD, and Myrtle Austin and husband Don of Hudson, NC, as well as nieces, a nephew and their families and treasured friends and loved ones.
Mary’s immediate family gathered for a private interment on Oct. 5, 2013. A public memorial service and recital honoring Mary’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at the High Point Friends Meeting. The memorial service will be held by Kelly Kellum and the recital will feature a performance by renowned organist Susan Bates.

JAMESTOWN — Mrs. Sadie Trentacosta May, 88, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.
Sadie was born on March 6, 1925 in New Jersey to the late Sam Trentacosta and Ana D’Amore Trentacosta. Sadie married her sweetheart Alfred May in 1944.
After Alfred’s death in 1970, Sadie established Sadie May’s Ristorante in Jamestown in 1974. She ran the Ristorante for 32 years. Sadie loved gardening and cooking, was very big on celebrating the holidays with her family, and was very devoted to her Catholic faith. She loved her Yorkie, Chloe, who was her constant companion for 13 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Rasperski; brother, Joseph Trentacosta; sons, Al May and David May; and a granddaughter, Emily May.
Surviving are her children, Paula White and her husband Gary of Jamestown and Patricia Shelor of Trinity, and her sister, Rose Porco of New Jersey. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1505 E. Kivett Drive in High Point. Burial follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14th at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Avenue in High Point.

The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home.
