GREENSBORO - Anna Mae Turner, 67, died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. The family will have a private graveside service at The Turner Family Burial Grounds in Tennessee. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.
Katie Hollingsworth Patterson
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Katie Hollingsworth Patterson, 89, resident of High Point died Oct. 10, 2013, at her residence of natural causes with family by her side.
Mrs. Patterson was born May 12, 1924, in Lawrence, MS, a daughter to the late Marshall Alger and Pearl Gibbs Hollingsworth. A resident of this area since 1953, she was a member of Allendale Baptist Church and had worked at Devon Furniture. She loved quilting, going to the beach and working in her flower garden. On Oct. 17, 1944, she married Franklin Alvin Patterson who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Charlene Atkinson of High Point and Alice Farabee and husband Joseph of High Point; a son, Randy Patterson and wife Gail of Ocean Isle; two sisters, Jackie Pinson of Thomasville and Boots Watkins of Decatur, MS; three grandchildren, Regina, Morgan and Kaylen; and a special friend who was her caregiver for 4 years, Rhonda Jones.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. David Younger officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 -6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be directed to Allendale Baptist Church, 900 E. Springfield Rd. High Point, NC 27263 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, nurses and doctors at Hospice of the Piedmont, especially Lynn Robinson, for their loving care given to our mother during her illness. THOMASVILLE — Phyllis Horne Collins, age 55, of Hwy 62 in Thomasville, died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Funeral Services will be 3 p.m., Sunday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Grainger Family Cemetery.
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Edna Therrell McCann, 66, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Libertywood Nursing Center in Thomasville.
Edna was born in Asheboro, May 11, 1947, a daughter of the late Louis Milton Therrell and Queen Lucas Therrell. She was employed by Myrtle Desk and was of the Baptist faith. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard David McCann in 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Tracy D. Logan of High Point and Amy M. Walden; a brother, John M. Therrell of Fletcher; grandchildren, Darrell Durham and Ashlynn Durham, both of Thomasville.
A Celebration of Edna’s Life will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Albert Craven. Burial will follow in Knobs Baptist Church in Elkin. THOMASVILLE – Lillian Lucille Meredith, 89, died on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at Westchester Manor Nursing Home in High Point. The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct 14, 2013, in the Chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Trinity. The family is being served by Thomasville Funeral Home.
TRINITY- Massie Pearl Bullins Throckmorton, 94, died Thursday night, October 10, 2013, at Genesis Triad Center in High Point.
She was born March 6, 1919, in Stokes County to Elmer and Betty Taylor Bowlen. Massie was a homemaker and the oldest member of Hilltop Baptist Church. She was the best mother grandmother, mother-in-law and was very family oriented.
A 3 p.m. funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Burroughs Chapel with Rev. Verlin Oliver officiating. Burial will follow at Northview Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Throckmorton; 2 sisters, Dorothy Mabe and Ruth Ola Duncan and 2 brothers, Gene Bowlen and Chester Bowlen.
She is survived by children, Diana Kinsey and husband Forest of Trinity and Wade Throckmorton and wife Bonnie of Walnut Cove; 8 grandchildren, Timmy Throckmorton, Chris Throckmorton, Larry Throckmorton, Charlie Throckmorton, Patricia Baxley, RexAnne Anthony, Angela Jordon and Heather Throckmorton; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sylvia Ray of Windsor and Katherine Wooley of Cantor; 1 brother, Cliff Bowlen of Greensboro and a special niece, Terrie Throckmorton.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Burroughs Funeral Home prior to the service.
