ASHEBORO — Mabel Leigh (Granny B) Brown Brabham, a native of Randolph County, quietly passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation Center, Presnell St. She formerly lived on Skycrest Country Rd.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 22 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times the home of her daughter, Tonita Bulla, 1127 Tory Lane, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
Born June 13, 1916, she was a daughter of John Milton and Martha Lee Craven Brown. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church where she taught a ladies Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Frank Brabham, Sr., son, Hugh Frank Brabham, Jr., sons-in-law, James Lloyd Bulla and Thomas Gerald Barrett; grandson, Brian Keith Brabham; brothers, John Edgar (Wilma Jane Shoaf) Brown and Clyde Herbert and (Alice Garner Brown) and unnamed twin sisters who died at birth.
Survivors include daughters, Tonita Brabham Bulla and Jocelyn Brabham Barrett, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Lewallen Brabham. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Benjamin Bryan Crosby
CHAPIN, S.C. — Benjamin Bryan Crosby, 32, died Friday, July 19, 2013 in Dallas, TX from injuries sustained in a car accident. Born on January 19, 1981 at Lexington Medical Center, he was a son of Robert H. and Cheryl White Crosby.
Ben was a graduate of Chapin High School, the University of South Carolina and USC Law School. He was a Vice President with JP Morgan Chase in Dallas. Ben was an avid sportsman and loved his Manchester United Football Club. He was a strong charismatic leader, loved and admired by all. A steady, shining light who filled our lives with joy, love and laughter.
Surviving are his parents of Chapin; brother, Sean Robert Crosby (Liz) of Columbia; sister, Brittany Reid Crosby of Chapin; paternal grandmother, Anna Margaret Crosby of Charleston; maternal grandmother, Bobbie White of High Point, NC; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many devoted friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Col. Ralph Dozier Crosby; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Robert White; his special great-aunt, Nell Salley.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the funeral home. HIGH POINT — Marcella E. Dunkelberger of High Point passed on July 18, 2013 at her home. She was born October 6, 1928 in Kennett, Missouri, the daughter of Van and Agnes Edwards who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nozella Romines in 2012.
She was married to Donald H. Dunkelberger on February 21, 1952 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She is survived by two children, Janice Agostino of Winston-Salem; Carol Poteat and husband Mike of Charlotte; two grandchildren Meredith Simos and husband Chris; Amie Adams; a brother Glen V. Edwards of Conway, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, and one great-grandchild.
Graveside Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, July 22, 2013 with interment at Floral Garden Memorial Park. Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point is assisting the family.

HIGH POINT — Mr. Blake Farlow, 62, resident of High Point died July 20th, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
TRINITY — A member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Trinity, NC, James passed away July 18, 2013 at WestwoodNursing Home in Archdale, NC.
James was born in Blacklick, OH on March 28, 1940 and retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 after serving his Country for 30 years. James went on to work at Super Brands Dairy as a maintenance technician.
He married Bettie L. Blair on March 25, 1960 and is survived by his wife Bettie; son, Steve and grandchildren Matthew, Megan, and Justin; son Mike and granddaughter Valerie and great-granddaughters Aliya and Khloe; son Joseph, and daughter; Katrina (Michael) Willson, and granddaughters Amber, Kristen, and Jenna; son Aaron (Angela) Perdue, and grandchildren Rebecca and David, grandson Brandon and great grandchildren Brooklyn and Kaitlyn.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, and a brother as well as a son, James Paul Fisher and grandson Adam Fisher.
James will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, July 22, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomasville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Thomasville Funeral Home with Pastor William Thompson officiating. The Committal Service will be Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Salisbury National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Jane S. Fitzgerald
ARCHDALE — Jane Smith Fitzgerald, 53 of Archdale, passed away July 18, 2013.
Born July 21, 1959 to Donald Ray Smith, Sr. and Betty Kearns Smith, Jane was a resident of this area for all of her life. She was a member at Hayworth Wesleyan. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at High Point Regional Hospital, and was recognized as one of North Carolina’s “Great 100 Nurses”. Jane will be fondly remembered as a great wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her father.
Jane is survived by husband Tim and children Seth and Haley; mother, Betty Kearns Smith of High Point; brother, Donald Ray Smith, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Raleigh; sister, Penny Peace and husband Joey of Archdale; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Delores.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11 am at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Reverend Brian Matherlee and Reverend David Emery officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

HIGH POINT — Albert W. “Bobby” Head, 76, formerly of High Point, died on 7/10/2013, at Hospice of the Valley, AZ, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Bobby was born in Bay City, Texas. He served in the Navy from 1959-1964, prior to beginning his flying career with Braniff Airlines. After the demise of Braniff, he continued his love for flying with Piedmont Airlines in 1982, later to become US Air, Bobby had flown over 31,000 hours and retired as a Captain. “Fly Fast, Live Slow” was truly the motto he lived by. Surviving are his wife, Jan Head, his son Marty Head and wife Susan, all of Gold Canyon, AZ, his daughter Gerri Nordstrom and her husband Garo, and one granddaughter, Rebecca Nordstrom, all of High Point, NC. The family has no plans for local services but plans to scatter his ashes over the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, off of the Texas coast, as Bobby wanted. ARCHDALE — Jacqueline Cameron Hinesley (Jackie) passed away July 20, 2013 at her home after years of declining health. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Lee Cameron and Effie McKay. Jackie had a strong Christian faith, and was a lifelong Presbyterian, first as a member of Barbecue Presbyterian Church (Harnett County); later, First Presbyterian Church (Sanford), Randolph Presbyterian Church (Archdale), and First Presbyterian Church (High Point).
Jackie graduated from Benhaven High School (Harnett County) in 1948. Later that year, she married Lewis H. Hinesley, and shared 52 years with him before his death in 2001. They lived in Sanford, NC until 1970; thereafter, in Archdale, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother (Perry Cameron), and a sister (Jesse Mabe), all from the Barbecue Church community near Olivia, south of Sanford.
Jackie was a traditional stay-at-home mom while her children were small. She attended and graduated from Sanford Business College in 1963. Then, she worked 7 years in the City Clerk’s office in Sanford. Later, she worked 3 years at Textile Industries in Thomasville, and 18 years as cashier at Presbyterian Home in High Point.
Jackie is survived by her son Eric and wife Angela (Raleigh), and daughter Joy (Archdale); three grandchildren: Jennifer Medlin (High Point), Cameron Hinesley (Raleigh), and Laura Deitrick (Raleigh); and one great-grandchild (Jaylin Deitrick).
Jackie was a good wife, mother, and friend. She appreciated music and art, and gave her children the opportunity to experience those things. She was practical minded, with good judgment and wisdom, honest, and was a good manager of family finances. Despite numerous health problems and discomfort during her later years, she maintained an upbeat and cheerful attitude, and was quick to count her blessings. She appreciated the little things in life: enjoying God’s creation (birds, flowers, and trees), sending or receiving a card, reading and studying The Bible, listening to good music, travelling, playing the piano or organ, singing a song, reading or writing a poem, cooking, painting or viewing art, reading a book, visiting family and friends, vacations, family gatherings at holidays, reunions, and talking about family history, etc.
A service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Rd., Archdale with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Broman-Fulks officiating. Burial will follow at 2pm Tuesday in Lee Memory Gardens, Sanford, NC. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Monday at Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale.
The family gives special thanks to her caregivers, Janet Shores (Thomasville) and Ellen Russell (Greensboro). We also thank Hospice of the Piedmont, and all the doctors and nurses who ministered to Jackie in recent years. Joy Hinesley faithfully cared for her Mom during the last years. PFAFFTOWN — Thomas “Tommy” McCrary, age 55, of Vienna Dozier Road, Pfafftown passed away Friday at Forsyth Medical Center after a four year courageous battle of Pancreatic Cancer.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday night.
Tommy was born in Davidson County, August 17, 1957 to David Dermont and Barbara Everhart McCrary. He was a former employee of Stanley Furniture and member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR and traveling especially to the Southwest.
Surviving are; his wife Cynthia Elswick McCrary of the home; parents, Dermont and Barbara McCrary of Lexington; sons, Jeff McCrary (Michelle) and Derek McCrary (Sonya) all of Linwood; grandchildren, Madyson, Jake, Lindsay and Landon McCrary all of Linwood; step-sons, Cliff Adams and Jerry Adams (fiancee’-Rosa Glasscock) all of Pfafftown; sister, Lisa McCrary Embler (Dale) of Lexington; many special family and friends.

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Mary Wise Morrison, 79, of Terrell Drive, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. Johnson and Sons, High Point is assisting the family.
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Elnora “Sister” Abney Padgett departed this early life for life eternal on July 19th 2013 at home after four years of declining health.
She was born September 23, 1925 in Saluda, S.C. to Tyrie and Bessie Mobley Abney and was the oldest of five children. She received her education at Saluda Rosenhall High School. She moved to High Point, NC in 1944 and made it her home. United into holy matrimony to the late Willie James Padgett for Fifty-six years, they were blessed with two beautiful children, Shirleen Padgett and Freddie Lee Padgett. She retired after 18 years of dedicated work from Guilford County School System. Her love for the Lord was of faithfulness, devotion and as a true solider that loved working in his vineyard. She was one of the original eight organizers and founder of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a member. There at Mt. Zion she served on the Pastor-Aid Committee, as a Missionary worker and helped start a summer feeding program. She is preceded in death her parents; her husband, Willie James Padgett; a son Freddie L. Padgett, a sister, Mrs. Amelia Harp, two brothers, Tyrie Abney Jr. and Andrew Abney; two brother-in-Iaws, Grady Harp Jr. and Bennie L. Padgett and two very special nephews, Dwight Harp and Donnie Abney.
Fond memories are shared by many who knew her for her radiant smile, that brighten the day for all of those she met and loved. She leaves behind to mourn in her loss, but rejoice in her homegoing, a daughter, Shirleen Padgett of the home; a sister, Mrs. Mattie (Clyde) Bosket of Allentown, PA.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Annabell Abney of Saluda, SC.; her grandchildren Christopher Parson, Clifton Sturdivant Jr. (Natasha), Travis L. Morgan, Angela (Adonis) Sturdivant-Ruff and Lamont (Kenya) Spencer all of High Point, NC., Mrs. Meagan (Gerald) Johnson of Winchester, VA. and Melvin Padgett of Arizona. Twenty three great-grandchildren; a very special devoted friend, Ms. Jacquelyn Jackson; two special young men she loved liked her sons and she call them “Her Boys”, James (Glenda) Martin and Rev. Alphonso (Mae Frances) Martin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Elnora’s Life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday July 27th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Thomas. Burial will be private. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
