R L Brown
LEXINGTON — R L Brown, age 80, of Craver Road passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
R L was born on July 9, 1933, in Guilford County to William Shields Brown and Minnie Tuttle Brown. He was a member of Leonard Road Baptist Church and worked in the furniture industry most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Harrison Brown; sister, Elizabeth Brown Kennedy; children, Larry Michael and Ricky Lee Brown.
Surviving are his wife Peggy Hill Brown; children, Cindy Smith (Jan) of Archdale, Lori Windsor of Trinity, Melissia Allred (David) of Trinity, son Jeff Brown (Sherrie) of High Point; step-children, Florecia Johnson (Gary) of High Point, Bunnie Lynn (David) of Welcome, Lugene Ward (Kenny) of Lexington, Mary Finney (Greg) of Linwood; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.

Evelyn Hoover Burney
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Evelyn Hoover Burney, 88, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Lexington Memorial Hospital following several years of declining health.
Mrs. Burney was born in Rockingham County, May 12, 1925, a daughter of Harvey Hoover and Mary Ava Payne Hoover. She operated a home daycare for 38 years. She was a faithful member of Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church, serving in the choir, as a Sunday School teacher, circle chairman and secretary to the Women’s Society. Prior to her illness, she was an accomplished cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Burney and a brother, Harvey Hoover, Jr.
Surviving are two children, Dr. David A. Burney and wife Lida of Kalaheo, HI, and Ava Meredith and husband William of High Point; and four grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Keith Edwards. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Davis Funerals and Cremations Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Rankin United Methodist Church. Terry Carlton
LEXINGTON ­— Terry Carlton of Lexington went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2013. He was 43.
Terry was born Nov. 10, 1969, and attended Trinity High School. He loved riding his Harley and made many friends. He was the beloved son of Richard and Donna Carlton.
Surviving are his sister Heather Carlton; niece Lillian Carlton; fiancee Cindy Kujan, a very special lady who helped him fight his battle of cancer; children, Victoria Hall Hoyle, Ashley Hall and son R.J. Hall; aunts Naomi, Maxine and Susie, thanks for all those cards; uncles Dillard, Willard James Clifford and Donald, many cousins, one special one, Donald Wayne and family.

Donald Dwight Caudell
SOPHIA — Donald Dwight Caudell, 62, of Sophia, died July 16, 2013, at the Hospice House in Asheboro. He was born Feb.14, 1951, in Washington County, Va., a son of Homer R. Caudell and Maxine Caudell Bush. He was a truck driver for 27 years. He was employed at Carr’s Freight of Winston-Salem.
Surviving are a son, Donald Ray Caudell of Trinity; a daughter, Donna Caudell Watts of Thomasville; his mother of Trinity; two granddaughters Kaitlyn & Karlie Caudell; three brothers, Allen Caudell of Trinity, Eddie Caudell of High Point and Danny Caudell of Saltville Va.; a sister, Connie Kindley of Trinity; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held tonight from 4-8 p.m. at Prominence Funeral Home, 100 W. Guilford St. in Thomasville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Friendly Baptist Church, 420 New Street in High Point.

Mullins, SC — Rev. Lillian B. Rainey Green, 68, formerly of High Point, passed on Friday, July 12, 2013, in Mullins, SC.

LEXINGTON — Robert (Bobby) Randall Hill, 71, of Welcome Bethesda Road, Lexington, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at WFBH-Lexington Medical Center after a serious illness since March. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church of Welcome Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
 
 
Judith Ann Jae

Thomasville – Judith Ann Jae, 72, a resident of Thomasville, went to be with Jesus Wednesday morning, July 17, 2013, from the Hinkle Hospice House. She was born March 12, 1941, in Kentucky and had been a resident of Davidson County for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by two daughters; Debbie Blackaby and Bonnie Blackaby. Surviving are two daughters; Sherri Keith of Kentucky and Dollie Beattie of Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Thomasville Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joe Smith and the Rev. William Brown officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.

Thomas O. Moore, Sr.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Mr. Thomas O. Moore, Sr., 76, also affectionately known as “Jackie” was called home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2013, at his home in Woodbridge, Virginia. He was born June 25, 1937, in Bristol, VA, to the late Nannie Lucille Moore. He was preceded in death by wife of 35 years Marlene Y. Scotton Moore, and one son, Terrance D. Moore, Sr.
Thomas “Jackie” Moore attended William Penn High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. He attended Johnson C. Smith College and was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served three years. Jackie was a people’s person that led him to his career in insurance and car sales, where he won numerous awards. He was a Christian, an avid golfer, a comedian, a dog lover, and a dear friend to all. He always had a joke and never met a person or a dog he didn’t like. Thomas served as a deacon at Neabsco Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia.
He leaves behind to share his memories three sons, Scott Tate of High Point, NC, Thomas O. (Patricia) Moore II of Woodbridge, VA, and Marlon Moore of Louisville, KY; one daughter, Monica Y. (Minister Mark) Fisher of Stafford, VA, grandchildren, Thomas O. Moore III, Sean E. Codray, Simone M. Codray of Woodbridge, VA, Monique R. Simpson, Markeisha R. Fisher, Mark A. Fisher II, Matthew A. Fisher of Stafford, VA, and Terrance D. Moore ,Jr. of Louisville, KY; and one great-grandson, Isaiah A. Moore of Woodbridge, VA. He cherished his relationship with cousins, the Moore girls, Earline Richardson, Thomasine Moore, Rita Scott, Charlsie Moore and Burnetta Moore, his sisters-in-law, Faye Scotton and Sharlene Leach. He loved all of his nieces, Marnita (Dr. Christopher) Edwards, Carla (Andre) Smith; nephews, Delathan Knight and Rickey (Brenda) Scotton, extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of God of Prophecy, 1100 Stanton Place. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and other times at 4300 Shaw Farms Circle, Greensboro, NC.

Gary D. Phillips Sr.
ARCHDALE — Gary Donald Phillips, Sr., 67, of Archdale, died July 17, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Gary was born November 29, 1945, to the late Floyd Phillips and Marie Parker. He worked for several local companies over the years, lastly working for Sunbelt Abrasives in the warehouse. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and the Lion’s Club. In 1968, Gary married the love of his life, Juanita Inman Phillips, who survives of the home. He loved to fish and watch NASCAR and will be remembered by his family as a wonderful father and “Paw”.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by daughter, Sherry Grooms and husband Kelly of Archdale; son, Donnie Phillips and wife Debbie of High Point; brother, Dennis Parker of Hickory; grandchildren, Travis Brewer and wife Brittany, Kayleigh Cruthis and husband Tyler, Joshua Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Jeffrey Phillips, and Cammie Phillips; great-grandchildren, Corbin Brewer and Trey Cruthis; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Fannie, Ransey, Darlene and Cecil.
A celebration of Gary’s life and a meal with a gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 2515 Bellemeade Street, High Point, NC 27263.

Marvin Leon Ramage
HIGH POINT – Mr. Marvin Leon Ramage, 50, passed to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 5, 1963, in High Point, NC, to Beatrice Mark Ramage and the late Channing Ramage. He was preceded in death by two aunts, Annie Mae Mark and Amelia Ramage; three uncles, J.B. Mark, W.K. Mark and Lewis Mark, Jr; and his maternal grandmother, Annie Ramage.
He had been in declining health for four months. Marvin loved the Lord and had a great passion and love for his family and friends.
He was a graduate of High Point Central High School and ITT Technical Institute.
Surviving are his mother, Beatrice Ramage of the home; one sister, Mrs. Doris Jackson of Los Angeles, CA; three aunts, Mrs. Ernestine Wright, Mrs. Florence Draft and Mrs. Gladys Mark all of Leesville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Alfred Miles “Buddy” Shores
DENTON — Alfred Miles “Buddy” Shores, 53, of Keeber Drive, died Wednesday July 17, 2013.
Buddy was born January 26, 1960, in Davidson County, a son of Harold Nelson Shores and Joyce Nealy Shores. Buddy loved motorcycles and attended True Church of God in Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Danny Ray Shores.
Surviving is his wife of 26 years, Janet Grainger Shores of the home; his mother, Joyce N. Shores of Thomasville; one daughter, Brandie Elizabeth McHenry of Greensboro; three sons Brandon Grainger, James David Shores and Tyler Miles Shores all of Thomasville; sister, Sharon McClure and husband Jesse of Lexington; four grandchildren, Abilgail McHenry, Zoe Foster, Hayley Grainger and Aaron Watkins; mother and father-in-law, Patsy and Limmie Grainger of Denton and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services for Buddy will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Stoneman officiating. Burial will follow in Near Calvary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Friday, July 19, 2013, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. and other times at the home of a sister, Sharon McClure 174 Carrol St. Lexington, NC.
