LEXINGTON — Mr. Zeb Vance Barnhardt, 80, of Hargrave Street, Lexington, NC, died Thursday, July 11, at Hinkle Hospice House.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at First Baptist Church. A private inurnment service will be in the First Baptist Church Columbarium. The family will hold a reception and greet friends in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the service. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
Dr. Carl J. Hedrick Jr.
HENDERSON — Dr. Carl Jefferson Hedrick Jr., 85, of 916 Buckhorn Street, Henderson, NC, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
Born in Sophia, NC, he was the son of the late Carl Jefferson Hedrick Sr. and Ola Dula Hedrick.
Dr. Hedrick was a retired Baptist minister. He was a graduate of Mars Hill Junior College, Furman University, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Luther Rice University. He served at First Baptist Church in Micro, NC, LaGrange Park Baptist Church in Chicago, IL, Rolan-Manor Baptist Church in Peoria, IL, Boylan Heights Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC, Corinth Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC, West End Baptist Church in Henderson, and Battleboro Baptist Church in Battleboro, NC. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Corinth Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m., in Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point, NC.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Hunt Hedrick; a son, Larry Curtis Hedrick of London England; a granddaughter, Amy Suzanne Hedrick of Tacoma, WA; a grandson, David Curtis Hedrick of Groton, CT; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his first wife, June York Hedrick.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 916 Buckhorn Street, Henderson.
Flowers will be accepted; or memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 13450 NC Hwy 96, Zebulon, NC 27597.

RANDLEMAN — Ruth Glenn Hill, 82, of Randleman, NC, died Thursday, July 11, 2013. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, Randleman. Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman is serving the family.
Hazel Pearson Land
ARCHDALE — Hazel Pearson Land, 86, of Archdale, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Hazel was predeceased by parents, Lloyd and Sadie Pearson; husband, William Land, Sr.; and brothers, Roy Pearson and Jake Pearson. Hazel is survived by son, Bill Land and wife Margie of Birmingham, AL; brother, James Pearson of Archdale; and sisters, Blanche Gregory and Virginia Bowden, both of Reno, NV.
A small graveside service for the immediate family was held Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Floral Garden Memorial Park with the Reverend Bob Summers officiating.
A special thank you goes to friends Debra Grant and Golda Dockery for their unselfish devotion, to all of the staff at The GrayBrier for their T.L.C., and to Hospice of Randolph County for her comfort at the end.

John Thomas Linton
High Point – John Thomas Linton, 80, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Hospice of High Point after a long battle with congestive heart failure. John was born in Wakulla Co., Florida, on October 18, 1932. John was the oldest child of Sidney Eugene Linton and Mary Clarissa Linton (née Taylor).
Mr. Linton was the national advertising manager for the High Point Enterprise newspaper in the 1970’s. He later worked in advertising and as a Total Quality Control manager at Harris-Teeter grocery chain in Charlotte and Greensboro. He retired from Harris Teeter about 10 years ago.
John Linton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of High Point where he served as a Stephen Minister and a faithful member of the men’s Bible study for many years. Mr. Linton was also a High Point City Councilman for Ward 3 in High Point from 2003 – 2005.
Mr Linton is survived by his brother Sid Linton of Rockingham, NC, and his daughters Laura Price of Concord, NC, and Liz Léon of Ashburn, VA. Mr. Linton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Billie Linton (née Bell), and his beloved son Benjamin Sidney Linton.
Friends and family remember Mr. Linton as one of the funniest men they knew. His creativity, sharp sense of humor and unusual point of view made him an excellent conversationalist who maintained a positive outlook via his trust in God. He liked to say he was “as original as ignorance could make him.”
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all who cared for Mr. Linton and helped support the family during the final months of his illness.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at the First Presbyterian Church of High Point, North Carolina. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Ken Broman-Fulks. The family will receive friends after the service in the Family Life Center of the church.
After the visitation in the Family Life Center, a celebration of life pig–pickin’ will be held at the home of John Linton. All who knew and appreciated him should plan to attend.

Mary Alice Green Rush
ARCHDALE — Mrs. Mary Alice Green Rush, 93, of 3264 Belo Rush Dr., Archdale died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Mary was born on July 22, 1919, to William Green and Sophronia Coltrane Green in Randolph County. She turned her life over to Christ at an early age and was of the Holiness faith. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and really looked forward to Sunday dinners with her family. She enjoyed growing flowers, playing the guitar and singing.
Mrs. Rush was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Rush; daughter, Geneva Davis; a son and his wife, Donald and Roberta Green; and great-grandson, Kendel McClain; siblings, Elmer, Ezzell, Pavor, Fred, Earl, Claude, J.D., Ernest, Jesse Green, Maude Johnson and Hazel James; and son-in-law, Winford Miles,Sr.
Surviving relatives include sons, Gary Rush of Greensboro, and Odell (Melinda) Rush of Archdale; six daughters, Doreen Miles of Thomasville, Maxine McCormick (John) of High Point, Angela Tucker of Archdale, Nancy Rush of Archdale, Darlene Moore (Myles) of Durham, and Gina Rush of High Point; brother, Leon Green of Pontiac, MI; sister, Ethel Rice of Archdale; 16 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; cousins who were like sons, Kenneth Green, Elder Curtis Green and Rev. Roger Green; son-in-law, Donald R. Davis, Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Galilee United Church of God, 7230 Cedar Square Rd., Randelman. Burial will follow at Bethel Glenola United Methodist Church Cemetery.
