Grace Haynes Rankin
GREENSBORO — Mrs. Grace Haynes Rankin, age 91, a former resident of Groometown Road, died Thursday, April 3, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thomasville, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Mrs. Rankin was born July 25, 1922 in Davidson County a daughter of the late Herman O. and May Kennedy Haynes. She had been a resident of this area for most of her life and was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church in High Point. Prior to her retirement in 1992, she worked many years in financial services at Kiser-Roth Hosiery, later to become Mock-Judson Hosiery and then Rolaine Factory Outlet. On July 2, 1962 she married Fred N. Rankin who died June 24, 1973. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Swaim and Ruth Byerly and three brothers, Colin, Clark and George Haynes.
Survivors include a brother, Thurman Haynes of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Donna Friddle officiating. The family will receive friends, in the fellowship hall of the church, following the service.

Minnie Joe McFadden
HIGH POINT — Ms. Minnie Joe McFadden, 83 of High Point departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her residence.
She was born June 30, 1930 in Sumter, S.C. to Lucille McFadden.
She later relocated to High Point.
Ms. Minnie was a wonderful day care provider to her family and many others. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eloise Smith and one son, Jimmy McFadden.
Minnie McFadden leaves cherished memories to four children; Dorothy (Johnny) Campbell, Billy (Evangelist Sarah) McFadden, Joann (Alvin) Thompson all of High Point and Brenda (Larry) Carmichael of Archdale; she also leaves loving memories to 14 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; a special aunt, Willow Dean McFadden.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown. Danny Ray Williams
HIGH POINT — Danny Ray Williams, 51, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence following an apparent heart attack.
Danny was born in Reidsville, Dec. 20, 1962, a son of Herbert Carter Williams and Hazel Webster Williams. He was last employed by Braxton Culler, Inc. and loved wrestling. Danny was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Bridgett Adams Williams of the home; two daughters, Brianna Williams and Max Collins of High Point; Amanda Long and husband Gregory of Thomasville; a son, Danny Ray Williams Jr. of the home; a granddaughter, Kimberly Williams; his mother, Hazel Baker and husband Frank of Latta, S.C.; a sister, Vickie Williams of Lexington; two brothers, Ricky Williams of Reidsville and Herbert Williams, Jr. of High Point.

HIGH POINT — Mr. Charles Fred Harrington, 91 passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of the late Helen Faye (White) Harrington to whom he was married 66 years.
Mr. Harrington was born on July 26, 1922 in Monroe, N.C. a son of the late James Robert and Mary Alice (Brooks) Harrington. From 1942 until 1958 he played professional baseball for various teams, finishing his career as a member of the Hi-Toms. He then went on to work as a salesman for Piedmont Wholesale for 28 years until his retirement.
After his retirement, he worked at Willow Creek Country Club. He was an avid golfer playing until he was 88 years old, and was a member of the High Point Senior Golf Association. He also loved watching all sports, especially the Atlanta Braves. He was a loving man who cherished every holiday surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Harrington was a member of Westchester Baptist Church.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Mr. Harrington is survived by a daughter, Freida (Harrington) Franklin and her husband, Ben H. of Greensboro; two sons, John Charles Harrington and his wife, Pat of High Point, and Jerry Fred Harrington and his wife, Kathy of Monroe; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Franklin) Franklin and her husband, Rodney of Asheville, Melanie (Franklin) Sumrall and her husband, Daniel of Greensboro, Jordan Christopher Franklin and his wife, Melissa of Greensboro, John Brent Harrington of High Point, Lorie Paige Harrington of High Point, Jerry Fred Harrington, II and his wife, Cindy of Hickory, and Joshua Lee Harrington of Charlotte; nine great grandchildren, Walter Craig Matthews, Tara Ashley Matthews, Davis Henry Franklin, Charles Hill Franklin, Archer Trent Sumrall, William Augustas Harrington, Graham Elizabeth Harrington, Johnathan Andrew Harrington, and Savannah Leighann Harrington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point with Rev. Eric Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

LEXINGTON — Jennifer Lynn Hobbs Bacon, 47, of Louya Rd., Lexington died Friday, April 4, 2014 in Hinkle Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Mount Tabor United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Olivia Boyette Green
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Olivia Boyette Green, age 96 peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 5 at Guilford House in Greensboro.
Olivia was born on March 23, 1918 in Johnston County to the late Leonard and Nellie Eason Boyette. She was married for 34 years to the late Ralph L. Green. She lived and worked in Raleigh until moving to High Point in 1991. Olivia deeply cared for her family and church. She was an active member of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church until her health did not allow her to attend regularly. She loved working in her flower gardens and cooking for others. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Julian and John Boyette and son-in-law Walter W. Baker Jr.
Olivia is survived by daughters, Jane Baker of High Point and Kathy Simms of Greensboro; grandchildren Susan Baker (Bruce), Valerie Shepherd (Christian), and Trip Baker (Rose), all of High Point, Elizabeth Crutchfield (Alex) of Durham and Peter Simms of Raleigh; great-grandchildren Nathan Morrison of Erwin, Ben Baker, Riley and Evan Shepherd, William and Olivia Baker, all of High Point and special nephew Rodney Boyette (Janice) of Annapolis, Md. and former son-in-law John Simms Jr. of Greensboro.
Funeral Services will be held for Mrs. Green 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend Bob Hiatt officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Guilford House and Community Hospice of Burlington for the dedicated care they gave to mom.
