Russell E. Black Jr.
THOMASVILLE — Russell E. Black Jr., 70, of Leonard Street, passed on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington, North Carolina. Celebration Services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014, 1 p.m. at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, 307 Church Street. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service. A viewing will take place on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Thomasville City Cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Black, a daughter, Tracy (Jefferey) Gill, a son, LaCarter E. (Sharon) Black, three grandchildren, Tristan (Chantal), Jadon and Samara, one great grandchild, Zaire, one sister, Jean (James) Rock, one uncle, John Craddock and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. LEXINGTON — Mrs. Betty Bernice Galloway Curry, age 62, of Three Hat Mountain Road, Lexington, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at her residence. She was born on July 20, 1951, in Transylvania County, to Robert Vernon Galloway and Myrtle Woods Galloway. Betty was retired from High Point Knitting and was of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Juanita Morrison, and nephew, Troy McCall. On October 1, 1984, she married Billy J. Curry, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert Scott Glance and wife, Jean, of Lexington, and Benjamin Carl Mishoe and wife, Michelle, of Galivants Ferry, SC, three sisters, Gladys Branson of Rosman, NC, Diann McCoy of High Point, and Pauline Stratton and husband, Bill, of Florida, three brothers, Vernon Galloway and wife, Helen, of Trinity, Troy Galloway of High Point, and Michael Galloway of Trinity; and four grandchildren, Robert Scott Glance Jr., Michael Tyler Glance, Heaven Mishoe, and Jordan Jackson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. in J. C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Dan Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. John Porosky Jr.
JAMESTOWN — Mr. John Joseph Porosky, Jr., 91, a resident of Jamestown died Wednesday April 2, 2014 at Shannon Gray in Jamestown. Mr. Porosky was born September 21, 1922 in Akron, Ohio the son of John Joseph Porosky, Sr. and Marie Porosky. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He worked at Liggett and Platt in High Point for 19 years before retiring. He was a true Ohio State Buckeye.
Mr, Porosky was married to Mary Jane Heller Porosky for 71 years before her death on July 24, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas John Porosky.
Surviving is one son, Jeffrey Scott Porosky of the home.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Guilford Memorial Park conducted by the Reverend Dr. Jay D. Smith.

LEXINGTON — Jack Lloyd Hardie, 82, of Holloways Church Road, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Macedonia United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family ill receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.
