David L. “Davie” Blackburn
CHEROKEE, NC — Mr. David Lee “Davie” Blackburn II, 41, of Cherokee, NC, and formerly of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, May 6, 2013. A graveside service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Randolph Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

Sadie Rogers Cobb
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Sadie Rogers Cobb, 86, of 519 N. Centennial Street died Friday, May 3, 2013 at her residence. 
Sadie was born May 31, 1926 in Dillon, S.C. to Sim and Sarah McRae Rogers.  She had been a resident of High Point most of her life.  Sadie was married to the love of her life, the late Joe Cobb, Sr.  She was a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church and was one of the original members o the Tommettes Gospel Singers where she sang alongside her mother and sisters.  Mrs. Cobb retired from P&G Electric Plating.  She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who loved cooking and making life better for her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cobb, Sr.; two sons, Joe Cobb, Jr., and Curtis Cobb; daughters, Mary Ann Rogers and Sharon Castro; stepdaughter, Mae Ella Hamilton; three sisters, Anna Rogers Wilson, Sallie Rogers Wilson, and Jessie Rogers Ware; brother, Simmie Rogers; grandson, Brian Cobb; great grandson, Suquan Rogers; and daughter-in-law, Nellie Cobb.
Left to cherish precious memories are six sons, Melvin Cobb of the home, Floyd Cobb, Richard (Harriet) Cobb, and Danny (Linda) Rogers all of High Point, and David (Lumia) Cobb of Thomasville, David Davis of Greensboro; five daughters, Daisy (James) Burton, Deborah (Thomas) Anderson, Annie Rogers, Margaret Rogers, and Mary Cobb all of High Point; two sisters, Bertha Beauchamp, and Mary Ware both of High Point; thirty-one grandchildren; sixty-one great grandchildren, and twenty great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, 833 Leonard Ave.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.  Family visitation will be at the church on Friday, 1:30 to 2 p.m. and other times at the residence.  Johnson and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.johnosnandsonsinc.com.

LEXINGTON — Joey Leon Grubb, 58, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday morning in Bismarck, ND. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m.  Friday at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.


Dorothy Lodoska Millikan Hodgin
JAMESTOWN — Dorothy Lodoska Millikan Hodgin, 89, of Jamestown, NC, went to be with her Lord on May 6, 2013.
Born January 8, 1924, she was the only child of the late J. Ralph Millikan and Eva Brackett Millikan. Dot was also predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Limone Monroe Hodgin; by two sons Craig and Gary; by stillborn twin daughters, Alicia and Patricia; and by her maternal Aunt “Second Mom” Kate Brackett Cashatt.
Dot is survived by two granddaughters, Paige L. Hodgin of Rock Hill, SC, and Sherry L. Hodgin of Pineville, NC; three great-grandchildren Payne Hodgin Russell, Darby Ragin Russell and Katelyn Eva Acitelli. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Deloris Harris Williams of Greensboro, NC.
Dot’s life was devoted to her family and the Jamestown community. She was an active longtime member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. She loved traveling, reading, solving crossword puzzles and enjoying a yummy banana split. She particularly treasured the family’s time-honored annual beach week.
Thanks go to Dot’s friends and church members who faithfully visited her, the staff at High Point Place Assisted Living, personal caregiver Peggy Byerly and to Hospice of the Piedmont. Special gratitude goes to her dear friend Lib Sechrest for her constant love and devotion through the fun times and the difficult times. She brought Dot many smiles.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Avenue in High Point with family visitation an hour before the service. Interment at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery will follow the service.

HIGH POINT — Kenneth Ronald Johnson, 81, a resident of High Point, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013.
A service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be held Friday, May 10, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. from the graveside in Mount Gur Cemetery in Kernersville. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.

Mrs. Teresa Scott Rogers
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Teresa Scott Rogers, 61, of High Point passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2013, at Randolph Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro, NC. 
She was born to the late Ronald and Mary Scott in Guilford County.
She leaves behind fond memories to her beloved husband of 26 years, Percy Rogers of the home; one brother, Donnie (Retha) Scott of Rowland, NC; three sisters, Lois Valentine of Marion, NC, Nancy (Fairley) Oxendine of Rowland, NC, and Betty (Jerry Huntsman) Christley of Snow Camp, NC.
A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at People’s Funeral Chapel, 1400 English Road. Rev. James R. Sherrod and Chaplin Joseph Neal will officiate the service.
The family will also receive friends at 508 Forrest St.

THOMASVILLE – Mr. Jerry Lee Thomas, 46, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his residence on Fairgrove Road.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Union Baptist Church with a family visitation being held 30 minutes prior to the service. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 09, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Thomasville City Cemetery, Thomasville, N.C.

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Roberta “Bert” M. Thomas, 82, of 411 Park Street, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 2, 2013. She was born on May 2, 1931, in High Point, NC, to the late Alice Hoke McGill and Johnny Greer McGill. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Thomas.
She is survived by a devoted sister, Mary M. Lassiter; nieces, Patricia Lanier, Sandra Smith, Gail (Randy) Nowlin; a nephew, Calvandus V. (Stacy) Lassiter lll; a very special cousin, James Earl (Earnestine) Hoke; cousins, Ruth, Edith, Patricia and Elizabeth Gray, all of Portsmouth Va.
Memorial service will be on Friday, May 10, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave. The family will be at the home of Mary Lassiter, 222-B Brentwood Street.
