Joyce Johnson Byerly
LEXINGTON - Joyce Ann Johnson Byerly, 68, a resident of Beckner Rd. died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and at other times at the home of her daughter, Holly. HIGH POINT - Mrs. Annetta Rawlinson Harris , 59, of 1209 Denny Street, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Annetta was born on April 14, 1953 to Herbert and Ada Rawlinson in Rock Hill, SC. As a resident of High Point, she was a 1971 graduate of T. Wingate Andrews High School. She was an employee of Concept Plastics. Annetta was a member of St. Stephens AME Zion Church where she served as a member of the Missionary Circle.
In addition to her parents, one brother, Herbert Rawlinson, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish fond memories a loving husband, Lawrence Harris, of the home; one son, Cedric Rawlinson of Yokosuka, Japan; one daughter, T’Deira Harris of High Point; one brother, Herman Rawlinson (Lillian) of High Point; one sister, Evelyn McDougal (Jimmy) of Edgewood, MD; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Stephens AME Zion Church, 1012 Leonard Ave., with Pastor Enrico White, officiating and Rev. Tanny Wright, Jr., eulogist. Billy Kay Lawson, Sr.
TRINITY - Mr. Billy Kay Lawson, Sr., 59, a resident of 6536 Heathwood Drive, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Scott County, VA August 28, 1953 a son of Kenneth Lawson and Julia Bledsoe Lawson and had been a resident of the Trinity area most of his life. He was a longtime self employed auto mechanic in Trinity. Surviving is a son, Billy Kay Lawson, Jr. and his fiancée Angela of Trinity; a grandson, Anthony Lawson of Asheboro; a brother Kenneth Lawson of Long Beach, CA, and a niece, Reese Eldridge of Trinity. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Billy’s life will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 6 PM at the garage at the home of the son, 4167 Wedgewood Terrace, Trinity. TRINITY - Mr. Curtis Edward Fry, 56, a resident of 2909 Spruce Court, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington He was born in High Point, December 7, 1956 a son of Edward Fry, Jr. and Shirley Mae Jones Fry. He was a US Army veteran and had been a resident of Leavenworth, KS until returning to this area in 1975. He was an active member of Thomasville First Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Men’s Ministry. He was a family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing his guitar. He was employed with Thomasville Furniture Industries. On June 9, 1978 he was married to Vickie Lynn Keiffer who died June 7, 2007. On July 4, 2010 he was married to Kathy Ruby who survives of the home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Kay Fry and by a half-brother Jerry Brummond. Also surviving are a son, Travis E. Fry of Thomasville; two step-daughters, Julie Boatright and her husband Robert of Leavenworth, KS and Jessica Wilkens of the home; two step-sons, Jason Timon of Leavenworth, KS and Donald Timon and his wife Mandy of Mascoutah, IL; three sisters, Ronda Privette and her husband Jason of Oklahoma, Angie Urvina and her husband Eric of Washington, and Stacey Fry of Leavenworth, KS; five brothers, Edward D. Fry, Dennis Fry, and Dwight Fry, all of Leavenworth, KS, and Ronnie Fry of Oklahoma and Edward Fry and his wife Michelle of Virginia. Also surviving are fifteen step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 PM at Thomasville First Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Joe T. Beane. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church Thursday at 1:30 PM. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 2 until 3 PM. Ruby Kirkman Gray
THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Ruby Viola Kirkman Gray, 96, a resident of Walker Road, died Sunday evening, January 27, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Eleanor. She was born on November 1, 1916 in Davidson County to Lonnie Alexander Kirkman and Bonnie Russell Kirkman. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Thomasville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Jack” Fulton Gray on December 27, 2002, whom she married October 31, 1936; sister, Helen Kirkman Myers; and brother, Arthur Ray Kirkman.
Surviving is her daughter, Eleanor Weatherly and husband Joe of Thomasville; grandsons, Michael Gray Rutherford and Patrick Roland Rutherford, both of Thomasville; and her special neighbor, Pansy Murphy of Thomasville.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cris Uren officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Gray will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the visitation. TRINITY - Billie Jeanne Taylor Hames, 82, resident of Trinity, died Jan. 27, 2013 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
Bobby Lee “Buster” White, Jr.
THOMASVILLE - Bobby Lee “Buster” White, Jr., 46, passed away, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Thomasville Medical Center. He was the loving fiancé of Jeanie D. Bailey to whom he was with for 10 years.
Mr. White was born on March 11, 1966 in Thomasville, a son of Bobby White, Sr. and Margaret Ann (Thomas) Dollaey, both of Archdale. He was self-employed owning and operating Briar Creek Upholstery for 6 years.
When he was not running his business, Bobby enjoyed hunting and fishing, often fishing near Big Rock and South Port. He also enjoyed collecting guns; but most of all he loved spending time with his friends, family and watching his son play baseball.
Mr. White is survived by a son, Cody Lee White of Trinity; two step-sons, Danny Ray Proctor and wife, Laura of Poughkeepsie, NY, and James Proffitt of Thomasville; a step-daughter, Kelly Proffitt of Thomasville; four step grandchildren, Toby Proctor, and Braxton, Kainin, Jacey, and Brielle Proffitt; a sister, Cathy W. Ashe and her husband, Walter of Trinity; a step-brother, Chris Dollaey and his wife, Dana of Archdale; a step-father, Jim J. Dollaeye of Archdale; a step-mother, Sally White of Archdale; two nieces, Brittani and Josie Williams of Trinity; a step niece, Lilli Dollaeye close friend, Sheila Sapp Proctor of Trinity; and many friends. He was preceded in death by a step brother, Robert Gray Childress, Jr.
A celebration of life service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale with his godfather, Barry Rollins officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Samuel Fritz Belk
COLFAX - Samuel Fritz Belk, age 85, formerly of Greensboro, died January 25, 2013, at River Landing of Sandy Ridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Morton Belk, his parents Samuel E. Belk and Belle Moore Belk, and his sister Frances Belk Miller. He is survived by his sons Sam Belk and wife Fabra of Nashville, Tennessee, and Stan Belk and wife Deane of High Point; grandchildren Forbes Belk of San Francisco, Elizabeth Belk of Nashville, and Garrison Belk and Montgomery Belk of High Point; and nephew, Donald Morris, and niece, Sue Morris, both of Madison Heights, Virginia.
He grew up in Madison Heights and served in the US Army in Panama during World War II. He graduated from Phillips Business College and was employed as an accountant by Burlington Industries for thirty-two years. He was a faithful charter member and Deacon Emeritus at Sharpe Road Baptist Church in Greensboro. He loved his church, the beach, gardening and his family and
friends. The family especially would like to thank River Landing and Presbyterian Home and all of their staff who provided many years of loving care.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, February 1, at the home of Stan and Deane Belk, 1208 Lancaster Place in High Point, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A private memorial service for family will be held on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharpe Road Baptist Church, 1908 Sharpe Road, Greensboro, NC 27406 or River Landing, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC 27235.
